Anmol Kapoor of Class XI cleared the prestigious NTSE Stage II

Anmol Kapoor of Class XI has done the school proud and proved his scholastic mettle and outstanding aptitude by clearing the prestigious NTSE Stage II conducted on May 13, 2018. He will be getting a scholarship of Rs. 1250 per month till he clears Class XII Examination and Rs. 2000 per month till he complete his higher studies. Earlier, Anmol had secured 5th rank in the Chandigarh Zone in NTSE Stage I.

Dental Workshop

In an endeavor to teach children about dental health and hygiene a dental workshop was organized for the students of Class Nursery.

The workshop was conducted by one of the parents from Nursery E who is a dentist. She made the students aware about the common dental problems through a vivid and vivid and child friendly presentation. Children were told about food choices which cause tooth decay and how to brush their teeth properly. The dentist especially laid stress on eating of excess of chocolates and junk food to maintain happy teeth for happy smiles.

CLASS VIII INTER SECTION ACTIVITY-‘BOOKMARK MAKING ACTIVITY’

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

To create an awareness among students about the International Peace Day, as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, the students of class VIII participated in a bookmark making activity.

The students were sensitized towards the fact that a peaceful society is one where there is justice and equality for everyone. Peace will enable a sustainable environment to take shape and a sustainable environment will help promote peace.

They were made conscious to the fact that they can prevent an injustice at school or in their community by adopting a non-violent approach to problem solving and reporting potential crimes, including online bullying.

The students with top 3 positions, in each section, were given certificates of merit.    

DPS Chandigarh student shines in NTSE

NTSE is one of the oldest and very highly acclaimed scholarship exam conducted to identify and recognize students with high intellect and academic talent.

Class III Show ‘Bachpan’ – a Child’s Perspective

Students of Class III of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented a class show – ‘Bachpan’ – a Child’s Perspective, on September 18, 2018. The stage came alive with the young and dazzling stars spilling a myriad of colours through their performances.

The songs and the dance performances left the audience awe-struck. Through the ‘Nukkad Natak’ the children expressed their desire to let them live their childhood freely. The ‘finale’ was an absolute delight to watch. The children won a thunderous applaud from the audience for their spectacular performance.

The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, applauded the effort and hard work put in by the students. She encouraged the parents to spend quality time with their children. She congratulated the parent community and appreciated their unstinted support. 

Our School Rock Band -Daria,  bagged the First position in the tricity and has qualified for the finals of ‘Teens Rock 5 – The Battle of Bands’.

This competition is India’s biggest Academic School Bands Competition and is organized by Yamaha Music India. 15 amateur bands from various schools of the tricity showcased their talent in the auditions.

The DPS team comprised of Gaurav Arora (Lead Guitarist), Deepanshu Mahajan (Lead Vocalist – Male), Aamrapali Mahajan (Lead Vocalist – Female), Rishi Vashisht (Keyboardist), Ishaan Mundeja (Bassist), Ayaan Saundh (Drummer) and Sahil Sood (Percussionist).

Eleven bands from all over the country will be competing for the title in the Grand Finale which will be held on 23rd September, 2018.

Career Counseling Session

Saurabh Gupta, Career Counsellor, Wonderskool(Panchkula) busted flawed notions regarding factors underlying the choice of careers and enlightened the students about a number of interesting careers they can be eligible for, in quite an engaging manner. He emphasized the importance of staying informed and setting their career goals only after a careful evaluation of various options.

Career Counseling Session

Mr. Henderson- Assistant Vice President of the office of Recruitment Enrolment and Mr. Christopher Beardsworth- Director International Recruitment at University of New Brunswick enlightened the students of Grade XII regarding study options in Canada. They informed the students that the popular programs are not just restricted to computer science engineering and business management but even courses in Forestry and Environmental study as well as Arts are very famous courses because of placements. Emphasis on experimental education in every single program including Faculty of Arts, the co-op options and the internships were also discussed at length. Details were provided on the application process and students  queries were taken up towards the end of the session.
