Delhi Public School, Chandigarh awarded for “Co-Curricular Education” by Education Today

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh has been awarded for Co-Curricular Education Jury’s Choice Award for exemplary contribution in the field of education in the North School Merit Award – Rewarding Excellence in Education by EducationToday.co. The North School Merit Award ceremony was held at Taj City Centre, Gurgaon on September 8, 2018.

Education Today had conducted a survey and out of 835 survey forms, the school was nominated for the award. The award is based on Jury Ranking, Parents Vote and Survey Analysis.

Our School team comprising of Asees Preet Singh (Class XII), Anmol Kapoor (Class XI) and Aditya Prasad (Class X), won Second Prize in Inter School Science Quiz Competition.

Pre Primary celebrated ‘Janamastami’

Janamastami, the birthday of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm by the children of Pre Primary of Delhi Public School. The little ones came dressed as Krishna, Radha, Meera and Sudama and spoke a few lines about them. The students were shown stories about the life of Lord Krishna. The little ones thoroughly enjoyed singing hymns and took part in various activities. It was a sight to see as the little ones gave a traditional touch to the entire celebration by dressing up in ethnic wear. The enthusiasm and efforts of the children was appreciated by all.

Inter- DPS IT Festival, Noida

Our students participated in onsite and online events in Inter-DPS IT Festival held at DPS Noida on 25th August 2018. Aryaman (Class VIII), Rachit Bhandari (Class VIII) and Krishneet K. Lamba (Class secured secured 35th, 43rd and 37th ranks respectively in Decryptonite. Hridae Singh (Class XI) made it to top 10 finalist in Group Discussion round.The movie made by our team on theme ‘Digital Footprints’ was well appreciated by the judges in Movie Making Competition. More than 100 Schools and 2000 students participated in the event.

INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF THE INTERACT CLUB,  DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, CHANDIGARH

The Installation Ceremony of the Interact Club of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh was held on 24th August 2018. Mr. A.P. Singh Dhiman, President, Rotary Club, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the occasion. The event was also graced by eminent Rotarians and distinguished guests from the Mohan Foundation. The ceremony began with a cultural feast which included a soulful patriotic song, a captivating dance performance – Jagriti, based on the theme of organ donation followed by an awareness talk on organ donation by Mr. Sudhir Dewan, Honorary Director, Mohan Foundation to enlighten the audience on this noble cause. A presentation depicting the journey of the Interact Club, DPS and a brief account of the activities and projects undertaken by the club and their upcoming plans was showcased. The newly appointed members of the Club were installed by the Chief Guest, Mr. A.P. Singh Dhiman, who appreciated the school’s efforts in community service. The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan congratulated the newly appointed Interact Club members and encouraged them to be the flag bearers of the youth in their mission to build a better society. The ceremony came to an end with the vote of thanks.

Pre Primary Wing celebrated ‘Rakshabandhan’

Raksha Bandhan is one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters, a bond between brothers and sisters, a bond which is one of the deepest and noblest of human emotions. To strengthen this bond “Rakhi Making Activity” was done in the Pre- Primary Wing. The students made colourful eye catching rakhis and they were told about the significance of the festival of Rakhi. The children were really excited to take the rakhis home.

Investiture Ceremony and Annual Prize Distribution  of the Senior School at DPS Chandigarh

Student Council members of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh for the current academic session were sworn in on Thursday, 23rd August, 2018, at a grand Investiture Ceremony amidst an atmosphere of success, pride and enthusiasm. The meritorious students of the senior school, Session 2017-18, were awarded the prizes for excellence in academics, co-curricular activities and sports.

 Shri B.L. Sharma, Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, was the Chief Guest. Justice Rajesh Bindal and Mr Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director, School Education, Chandigarh Administration also graced the occasion.

The formal ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a cultural programme that included the school choir’s patriotic presentation, a dance performance based on the theme Kavyanjali-poetry in motion The dance was a stellar rendition of a poem depicting the life and battles of the Rajput King of Mewar, Maharana Pratap. The students also presented a street play ‘Ang Daan Maha Daan’  to bust all myths about organ donation.

The newly invested members were badged by the chief guest. He congratulated the new council and urged students to take up their responsibilities with utmost sincerity, and put their heart and soul into whatever they take up in life .He appreciated the ideals DPS has set for itself.

The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan in her address stressed on the importance of character building and life skill development. She reminded the council that with authority comes great responsibility and accountability. She urged the young leaders to uphold the values of the school and to keep the school flag flying high while discharging their duties honestly and impartially

The vote of thanks was proposed by the school Head Boy and the Head Girl.

Our School team comprising Shreya Seth, Mannat Brar and Prathma R.K. won the Zonal Finals of the 3rd edition of its National Psychology Quiz Programme ‘PSYCH 2018’ held on August 17 2018. Out of 880 Schools, 72 qualified for the zonal round.It will battle it out at the National Final on September 1, 2018.
