Arnav Sahoo, Gunveen Gill, Haroon Pal Singh Bedi, Krishneet Lamba and Shreya of Class IX of our School participated in the project based on studying Biodiversity under the Earthian Sustainability Education Programme. They received appreciation certificates for submitting the best project from the State for Wipro Earthian 2018 School category at a ceremony held on 16th April at New Public School, Chandigarh.

 

SESSION in DPS Chandigarh on  WORLD MALARIA DAY on 25th April 2019

A session on Malaria was organized in DPS Chandigarh for students of class 8th on the occasion of World Malaria Day. The session was conducted by Dr U J S Gill, Assistant Director, Malaria, Chandigarh. He made the children aware about the various species of mosquitoes, their identifying features and breeding sites. He told them about various ways to eliminate the breeding sites of mosquitoes and how to prevent mosquito bites. He motivated them to carry the message forward to friends, family and public. The children were administered a pledge to resolve to do everything to eradicate malaria. They were shown an exhibition displaying the larvae, fish Gambusia for biological control and breeding sites. The children interacted enthusiastically with Dr Gill in a question answer session after the presentation.

World Book Day Celebrated at DPS

The World Book Day was celebrated with great zeal and fervour at DPS Chandigarh on 25th April 2019. A special assembly for junior and senior students was arranged with the aim to develop the reading skills of the students. A series of variant literary activities like play on William Shakespeare, Poem recitation, Sharing of Thoughts on importance of books grabbed the attention of one and all. Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan appreciated the efforts of the young readers cum artists for sensitizing the audience about importance of books in life. She shared that books play an integral part in broadening the outlook of the person. Reading habits must be cultivated at the younger age so that a strong foundation of  creativity and knowledge can be laid down. This is the ultimate possession which should be handed over to our present generation. The principal appreciated the hard work of the library staff for organizing this event.

CLASS VI SHOW – ‘Brilliance – a Rhythmic Flight’

Students of Class VI of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented their class show ‘Brilliance – a Rhythmic Flight’ (an Inter-Section Poetry Recitation Competition) on the occasion of the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. Showcasing the theme that motivation is essential to set goals, chase your dreams and achieve them, the students of class 6 recited their poems, taking the opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the judges and the Principal, Mrs Reema Dewan. This was followed by the recitation by different teams – Insight, Creativity, Optimism etc., the order of which was decided by a draw of lots. Children brought alive the poems of Rudyard Kipling, Edgar A Guest, Barbara Vance, Helen Steiner Rice with the beauty of their expression, thoughts, rhyme, rhythm and music of words. While one team emphasized on always keeping the hope alive, the other on making the best use of what one has and achieving great heights. The students’ poems on facing challenges, tackling troubles with a smile left the audience truly spellbound. The judges lauded the efforts of the students.

The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan congratulated the students and the parents. She reiterated the school philosophy of reaching out to each child and tap his potential to make them confident to face the challenges of the world.

Pre Primary celebrated-‘World Health Day’

On the occasion of ‘World Health Day’ a number of activities were organized for the students of the Pre- Primary Wing to draw attention to the importance to global health. The students were made aware of the different steps to wash hands properly. They were also taught oral hygiene and the importance of healthy eating. It was a day full of learning for the children which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Our School team comprising of Mansha Dubey (VIII-F) and Tanisha Kishan (VIII-F) bagged the First prize in the event ‘Best out of Waste’ and our team comprising of Agrima Sudhir (IX-H) and Vedika Malhotra (VIII-D) bagged the Second prize in the event ‘Freehand Brushless Painting’ .

Our School team comprising of Mansha Dubey (VIII-F) and Tanisha Kishan (VIII-F) bagged the First prize in the event ‘Best out of Waste’ and our team comprising of Agrima Sudhir (IX-H) and Vedika Malhotra (VIII-D) bagged the Second prize in the event ‘Freehand Brushless Painting’ organised by Parijai Genus at Panjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh on 14th April 2019. Maanvir Singh (IV-E) bagged the Third prize in individual category for the Freehand Brushless Painting in the same event.
