Playnomics workshop organised by ISBF

A  Playnomics workshop was organised by ISBF on 9 May 2019 in the school campus for class 12th economics students. It was headed by Prof. Sameer Mukherjee who is the representative of ISBF. The activity conducted was Bake Off wherein 48 students were divided into 6 different groups where they had to trade between themselves with the given raw materials, money and various other inputs and earn money. It was an activity of 40 mins with many twists and turns in the market scenario.
The students participated with great enthusiasm and got to learn a lot many marketing skills and how to attract and get bonded with the customers.
It was a practical based learning and students could relate it to their basic concepts of economics and business studies.

Class VII Show ‘Kavyatarang- Ras ki Phuhaar’ (an Inter-Section Hindi  Poetry Recitation Competition)

Students of Class VII of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented their class show ‘Kavyatarang- Ras ki Phuhaar’ (an Inter-Section Hindi  Poetry Recitation Competition) on the occasion of the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. Showcasing the Bhakti Ras and Veer Ras, the students of class 7 recited their poems taking the opportunity to exhibit their devotion towards God, Parents and Country. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the judges and the Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan. This was followed by the recitation of poems and Doha’s by different teams, the order of which was decided by a draw of lots. Children brought alive the poems showcasing their gratitude for their parents and love for their country with the beauty of their expression, thoughts, rhyme, rhythm and music of words. The judges lauded the efforts of the students.

 

Pre Primary Wing conducted PTM with a difference

Parents and teachers working as partners is the best way to boost a child’s success. PTM was conducted by Pre- primary Wing with a difference by incorporating the session on Teaching Methodology with Mother’s Day celebrations. Mothers were given an insight into the teaching strategies followed by school as live classroom presentation. Mothers were delighted to see how their children learn at school and were benefited by this interactive session. Children surprised their mothers by singing a ‘Mother’s Day’ song expressing their love and affection and presented them with a beautiful card.

Class IV Show- ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbhakam’

Delhi Public School Chandigarh organized the Annual Prize Distribution Function and Class Show of Class IV. The theme was Vasudhaiva Kutumbhakam, which means that the world is one family. The children participated with zeal and enthusiasm and put up a spectacular show. The Chief Guest Mr. Kamal Arora, Chairman Sangeet Natak Academy praised the excellent performance of the children. He also stressed upon the importance of cultural activities for the holistic development of children. The Principal Ms. Reema Dewan addressed the audience and laid stress on the importance of mass participation. She proudly conveyed that our school is working for the PISA 20-21 programme and has been chosen as the Core Resource Group for Reading Literacy. Our school has also been selected as the lead collaborator for the Hubs of Learning under which students of Govt. High School, Sec 47-A, Chandigarh were invited to witness the show. An Orientation Programme was held in our school on 22nd April, 2019 in which all the Principals of the city were present and they discussed the changing scenario in education.

Peace Clubs Teachers Orientation Workshop

The Yuvsatta an NGO organised a Peace Clubs Teachers Orientation Workshop at New Public School on 16th April,2019. Our school participated in the workshop and received an Award of Honour for our service of mankind. The function was honoured by Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Chairman CCPCR.

Orientation Programme for U.T. School Principals and Teachers at DPS Chandigarh

An Orientation Programme for School Principals and Mathematics, Science and Language teachers of UT, Chandigarh was organized by CBSE in collaboration with Education Department, Chandigarh at Delhi Public School, Sector 40-C, Chandigarh. It was attended by 302 participants including Principals and teachers of various schools.

Ms. Reema Dewan, Principal, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh thanked CBSE and the U.T. Administration for giving the school an opportunity to facilitate such an event.

The eminent guests at the Orientation were Ms. Anita Karwal, Chairperson CBSE, Mr. B.L. Sharma, Education Secretary, Chandigarh, Sh. Anurag Tripathi, Secretary CBSE, Sh. Rajnish Kumar, Director School Education and Literacy, MHRD, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director Academics, CBSE, Dr Biswajit Saha, Director Skill Education and Trainings CBSE, Mr. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, DSE, U.T. and Joint Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of CBSE in addition to other key officials of the Department of Education, Chandigarh.

Ms. Anita Karwal, Chairperson, CBSE in her keynote address on Hubs of Learning and Annual Pedagogical Plan emphasised on the role of Principals as Pedagogical Leaders. She also talked about various initiatives taken by CBSE to bring about the much needed changes in the school curriculum and its transaction.

The programme aimed at incorporating new strategies in the educational curriculum. The distinguished speakers laid emphasis on Experiential Learning and hands on experiences in the classroom. They deliberated on pedagogical leadership and CBSE initiatives in equipping the students to take on the world as 21st century ready citizens. They sought cooperation of the Principals for revolutionising the education system.

The short presentation by the core committee of PISA, comprising of three schools of Chandigarh constituted under the Chairmanship of Sh. B.L. Sharma, Education Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh apprised the audience of the ground work being done to gear up for PISA 2021. It was highly appreciated by the officials from CBSE.

The session ended on a positive note with all the participants motivated to bring in the necessary changes in the curriculum to prepare for PISA 2021.
