Pre Primary wing celebrated Dussehra

Dussehra was celebrated with a lot of zeal and fervour by the Pre Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. To mark Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana and to reinforce the message that good always triumps overevil, a movie was shown to the children on why we celebrate Dussehra. Children were told that Ramlila is the dramatic enactment of the events of the life of Lord Rama and is staged at various places. They were also told that on this day effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnath are burnt. Through engaging activities students learned more about Indian mythology and were sensitised about our culture and tradition.

Gandhi Jayanti celebrated by Pre- Primary wing

Once said by Mahatma Gandhi, “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”.
The children of Delhi Public School Chandigarh, took pride to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of our beloved father of the nation.
Various modules on the life of Gandhi ji based on his Non- Violence Movement in India, were shown and explained to the children of the pre- primary wing. The entire Pre- Primary wing was echoing with the bhajan “Raghu Pati Raghav” along with the all faith prayer. Few children who were inspired by the story of Gandhi ji, came dressed in his attire and presented themselves in front of their classmates. A cleanliness drive was undertaken by the students who spread the awareness of ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ with their slogans across the school. The young minds not only understood the importance of non- violence but also took initiative in cleaning their school and their home. Way to go Dipsites!!!

Visit to CSIR Institute

Students Of Class XI and XII visited CSIR Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh on 26th September, 2019. They visited protein lab and fermentation centre. Students learnt the process of culturing bacteria, identifying and preserving them. In the fermentation lab they learnt the fermentation technique and down stream processing.

Cycle Yatra

To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the students of Delhi Public School participated in a Cycle Yatra to bring awareness on Gandhi ji’s teaching, Drug Abuse and Cleanliness. More than 30 cyclists participated in the yatra and created awareness amongst the passers by.

Special Assembly to mark 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the students of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh held a Special Assembly.

The assembly began with a prayer followed by a short speech on Gandhiji and his dream of a clean India. An appeal was made to the students to maintain cleanliness and help in fulfilling Gandhiji’s dream.

The school choir regaled the students with Gandhiji’s favourite bhajans – Vaishnav jan to tene kahiye je peer parayi jane re and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram….

A short skit showing snippets of Gandhiji’s life and the incidents that highlighted his moral values and character left the audience spell bound.

On the whole the assembly inspired the students to uphold and imbibe such virtues as part of their lifestyle.

Special Assembly for Prep Class

Special Assembly was held on 25th September, 2019 for the children of Prep to facilitate winners and participants of ’Drawing and Colouring’ competition. They were given certificates and were appreciated for their efforts. As a part of the assembly, the children were also told about the importance of cleanliness, as it leads to healthy lifestyle. They were told how harmful plastics are and not to use plastic bottles, tiffins and polythene bags. The children were also told about Mahatma Gandhiji’s philosophy that cleanliness is most important for physical well- being and a healthy environment. The aim of the assembly was to sensitise and aware the young learners to play their role towards creating a healthy and clean environment.

Granny’s Story Telling Session for Class Prep

For children, stories have always been fascinating and have played an interesting part of growing up. Keeping the same in mind we at Delhi Public School, organised a ‘Granny’s Story Telling Session’ for the tiny tots of Class Prep. The children seemed excited and were actively engaged during the story telling. They were also given the opportunity to answer and ask questions. It was an interactive session which proved to be an excellent medium to inform, entertain and educate.

Our team participated in Annual Computer Carnival held at Stepping Stones School and won several prizes

Our team participated in Annual Computer Carnival held at Stepping Stones School on September 28, 2019. Banisimar and Sanchit (Class XI)  bagged 3rd position in Blog creation. Hridae and Sanil (Class XII) bagged 3rd position in Quiz. Rachit Bhandari (Class IX) secured 3rd position in Animated Story in Scratch.
