Four DPS students received INSPIRE Awards

The 9th State level exhibition and project competition under INSPIRE AWARDS –MANAK scheme was organised at the State Council of Education Research and Training, on January 9& 10, 2020. Four of our students Paras Gupta(Class VI), Maanik Mahajan(Class VII), Aryan Singla(Class IX) and Tanishq Mittal(Class X), had received the INSPIRE Award of Rs 10,000 each to prepare models/ projects which they presented in the exhibition.

Aryan Singla (Class IX) has been selected for the National Level Exhibition and Project Competition 2019-2020 under the INSPIRE Awards MANAK Scheme.

DPS students attended 27th National Children’s Science Congress

27th NCSC -2019 (A flagship program of NCSTC, DST,Govt. of India) was held at Marivanios VidyaNagar, Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram from 27-31 December, 2019. The Child Scientists- Jatin Saharan and Anubhav Sihag of class 6 F participated in the event after securing first position in Junior category, at the state level ,which was held on 25th November at CSIO Auditorium Sec-30, Chandigarh. The children got a very good exposure at the event as they got an opportunity to meet some of the renowned scientists and other dignitaries working in the field of Science and technology and its use in innovating things for clean, green and healthy nation.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION AT DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated India’s 71st Republic Day on 26th January, 2020 in the school premises. The patriotic fervour warmed up the cold winter morning as the teachers, parents and children of the school enthusiastically gathered to hoist the National Flag.
The flag hoisting was followed by the school Head Girl’s speech and a medley of patriotic songs sung by the school choir.
The school Principal, Mrs Reema Dewan, in her address to the gathering, expressed pride in the rich cultural past of the country. She urged every student to work with honesty and dedication so that our nation soars to monumental heights. She summed up her address by reciting the lines of the famous patriotic song of yesteryears- taaqat vatan ki humse hai, himmat vatan ki humse hai izzat vatan ki humse hai .
The function concluded by the singing of the National Anthem.

DPS Chandigarh Celebrates’ National Girl Child Day’

Under the direction given by Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh, The National Girl Child Week was celebrated in DPS Chandigarh. Various activities like Essay writing, Poster making and Slogan writing were organized during the whole week.
Today, a special morning assembly was conducted to celebrate the ‘National Girl Child Day’ A brief talk was given on the subject and the school Principal Mrs Reema Deewan, to reaffirm full support of the DPS students and faculty conducted a pledge and all wore pink to demonstrate their whole –hearted support to end discrimination against our girls and empower them with equal opportunities.
This day is celebrated every year on January 24th across the country. Its objective is to provide maximum support and facilities to the girls of the country in every respect.

Session on Influenza Flu

Delhi Public School Chandigarh organized a session on Seasonal Influenza A for the students of Class 7th on 23rd January, 2020. It was conducted by Dr. Upinderjit Singh Gill, Assistant Director Malaria, UT Chandigarh. He told the students about the signs and symptoms of the disease and various ways of preventing it. The children were encouraged to adopt a healthy life style and practices so that they do not catch the flu. They were also shown a movie on Dengue to reinforce the information they had been given in earlier sessions. They were distributed pamphlets regarding Do’s and Don’t’s regarding these.

DPS Chandigarh wins CBSE Story Telling Competition

Aarushi Aggarwal of Class XI C won the Story Telling Competition in the Sr. Secondary Category. Her short video film “Unfair and Lovely” was rendered in a self- composed verse based on the topic “Societal Control”. She voiced the urgent need to break the age old shackles of society which still continue to victimise women.

Classes Nursery to Class II organised- ‘Run for Fun Day’

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”.
We at DPS aim towards holistic development of children and believe that sports play a vital role in developing a child’s personality. So, to enhance social skills, self-esteem, team spirit and confidence of our young dipsites, ‘Run for Fun’ day was organised for the students of Pre- Primary wing. The young athletes participated in various exciting and engaging races. They showed excellent sportsmanship and cheered for their friends. The proud winners were awarded medals. It was a day filled with fun, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

DPS Chandigarh celebrates 15 years of completion with mega show-“Gandhi- Ek Soch’

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, witnessed the Magnum-Opus, Gandhi – Ek Soch on 4th, 5th and 6th December2019. The students presented a musical narrative to commemorate 150th birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi as the school celebrated fifteen years of its completion. The musical saga was a collaborative venture of DPS, Chandigarh with Silly Point Productions, Mumbai. The production traced the making of the Mahatma and his voyage of becoming the champion of non –violence. The mega event was conceptualised, planned and directed by the Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan and Mr. Danesh A.R. Khambatta. It was a one of its kind school production with original songs penned by Ms. Reema Dewan and scintillating dances on opulent sets. More than five hundred students presented the show on the three days.
The Principal Ms. Reema Dewan deemed it her good fortune to have recreated and reinvented the enigma of Mahatma and provide a lifetime experience to the students.
A galaxy of dignitaries graced the three daylong celebration. On the inaugural day Mr V. K.Shunglu, Chairman, The Delhi Public School Society, Delhi was the guest of honour. Ms. Keshni Anand Arora, IAS, Chief Secretary, Haryana and Honourable Mr. Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa were the Chief Guests on 5th and 6th December respectively. The other distinguished guests to witness the event were Mrs. Madhu Shunglu, Mrs Ambika Soni, MP, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal, Former MP, School Directors, Mr. Anup Soni , Mr. Amit Bansal, Mr. Bal Krishan Bansal, Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR, Ms. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Mr. Shashank Anand, IPS, Mr. Kamal Arora, Chairman, CSNA. The production received a standing ovation both from parents and the various dignitaries. Mr.Shunglu, was visibly impressed by the impeccable performance showcased by the students in the musical. He congratulated the Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan for spearheading and achieving excellence in education by completing fifteen glorious years.
As the curtain falls on such a spell binding show, DPS Chandigarh would like to set the tone for a bigger and more spectacular silver jubilee celebrations.

Siddhant Agrawal (Class VIII) bagged First Prize in 47th State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition

Siddhant Agrawal (Class VIII) bagged First Prize in 47th State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition held at SCERT,32 from November 27 to November 30, 2019 under sub theme Future transport and communication. He also received a cash award of Rs 5100. he will now be representing for Nationals.
