Yuvrraj Kansil participated in the Vivek High School , MUN from Nov 10-13, 2022. He represented Peru. He has been awarded special mention and Third position.
Pranav of class IX B Secured Third Position in the E summit
Pranav of class IX B participated in the E summit organised by IIT Guwahati in collaboration with Clever Harvey . He presented his business idea of Junior MBA in (Entrepreneurship) by Clever Harvey . He was in the list of top 12 students All over India and got 3rd rank. He was awarded a trophy and certificate for the same. An award for the same was awarded to school.
National Psychology Quiz- First Position
Three students of Psychology, Class XII, Raahal Hundal, Sukhmani Kaur, and Ananya Garg participated in the National Psychology Quiz (Psych-Ed), organized by Fortis Healthcare. They got 1st Position in the State and went uptill the zonal round which was held in Fortis Hospital, Mohali on 19th November, 2022.
Class Prep organised Public Speaking Activity-‘My Favourite Festival’
DPS, Chandigarh believes in celebrating events and festivals with great zeal and enthusiasm. To enhance the knowledge of children about the festivals of India as well as their communication skills, the children of class Prep l were encouraged to speak a few lines on the topic ‘My Favourite Festival’.
The activity helped the children in a great way to understand the rich heritage of India and learn about the importance of various festivals. At the end of the day the boundless joy of celebrating the event was visible on the faces of all.
DPS celebrated ‘National Library Week’
A special morning assembly on National Library week was conducted in school auditorium by the library department.
The assembly began with a thought and a poem on books followed by the DPS Young Authors Meet. The talented young authors of the school shared their experiences of writing and encouraged other students also. The highlight of the assembly was ‘The Character Parade’. The students dressed up as their favourite story character. The variety of characters included Peter Pan,Harry Potter, Hermione, Matilda,Oliver Twist, Alice,Batsman.
It was the fest to watch them perform so confidently as they spoke few lines about the book and the character.
Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan appreciated the efforts of the children and encouraged them to read a book every day and develop reading habit. She encouraged the students to be avid readers and keep on admiring literary artists.
Pre- Primary Wing celebrated “Children’s Day”
Children’s Day, the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour by the children of the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The teachers made the day special for the children by making them participate in a lot of fun filled games and activities. The children came in party clothes and were super excited. The whole atmosphere was filled with joy as they enjoyed the ‘Magic Show’. At the end they were given beautiful crowns as a token of love.
Class II organised ‘Nutritious Week’
To create awareness and to inculcate healthy eating habits among the children, the students of Class ll of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh took part in Nutritious Week from November 7 to November 11,2022. They were apprised about the importance and benefits of a healthy and balanced diet through interactive sessions, modules and worksheets. Throughout the week they brought healthy tummy tickling food in their lunch boxes according to the menu chart sent to them. This regime effectively fulfilled the purpose of sensitizing the young minds about the benefits of healthy eating.
Samvidhi 4.0 – The Two Day Legal Conclave concludes at DPS Chandigarh
The Legal Conclave held on 11th-12th November, 2022, an initiative and annual event of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh came to an end with much fanfare. Right from the word go it was an event pulsating with energy and bubbling with high-spirits of the participants.
85 talented teams consisting of 288 students from the tricity showcased their prowess in various events. It was truly a fierce, yet very enjoyable battle of wits infused with vibrance.
Day 1 – The event was declared open by the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a beautiful rendition by the school choir.
The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan in her inaugural speech said that the landmark occasion in the calendar of DPS Chandigarh is a sincere attempt to make people, especially the students’ community aware of their legal and constitutional rights.
She further added that such events not only provide students a platform to come together forging new bonds, enhance their skills and values but also celebrate by keeping the team spirit alive.
Day 2 – Saw 6 semi-finalists sweating it out in a nail-biting quiz, followed by a cutting edge and compelling debate by powerful speakers.
Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR was the Chief Guest for the valedictory ceremony. She spoke about the joys of experiential learning, appreciated and complimented that Samvidhi had become an idiom. She congratulated the students that they were being groomed into future ambassadors of the City Beautiful and encouraged them to serve the society.
In total there were 6 events. Each event was judged by eminent jury.
The event was a great success. It was just a perfect opportunity for the students to augment their legal knowledge with build their abilities relating to it. The motto to spread legal consciousness and empower students was thoroughly achieved.
Class Nursery celebrated ‘Black & White Day’
Just like we can’t imagine a world without colours, a world without black and white colour is unimaginable too.Continuing in our endeavour to make our little ones aware about the importance of colours, students of Class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated Black and White Day. Children were dressed in black and white attire and enthusiastically participated in show and tell activity. Activities like painting and face mask making were conducted to reinforce the concept . It was indeed a fun -filled learning day for the little ones.
DPS Chandigarh hosts TED X- Ideas Worth Spreading – Sustainability and Youth
DPS, Chandigarh is committed to think anew and act anew. Transforming the learners into persons of competence, compassion and character, the institution hosted TEDX Youth on 10th November, 2022 with a rendezvous of prominent professionals, educators, environmentalists, activists and artists.
In her opening address, the Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan validated the need of providing global exposure to the students, ensuring exploration and introspection along the journey of education. She also thanked the gathering for being a part of this mega event.
Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh, IAS, District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Infusing the spirit of the day with his motivating words, he reiterated the importance of public speaking and emphasized on the need to nurture regional languages.
The gathering witnessed a galaxy of eight speakers from diverse fields who shared their inspiring ideas. Mr. Amandeep Thind, an International Speaker, Trainer, Author and Empowerment Coach, set the ball rolling by sharing his secrets of winning. Speaker 2 of the day Mr. Abhishek Gupta, Founder of ‘High School Moms’, spoke on the importance of scheduling priorities. Being in sync with the tide, Mr. Amit Hans, a successful entrepreneur, spoke about being purposefully conscious of one’s psychology and philosophy in life.
Ms. Rhythm Singh Randhawa, ‘former Miss Punjab’ shared her insightful experiences. Designated as the ‘Mentor of Change’, Mr. Saurabh Nanda, highlighted the importance of mental health and awareness. Mr. Gagandeep Singh, an acclaimed author and Mr. Ankit Chhabra carried forward the torch of erudite thinking/ learning whilst igniting the young minds. The event also included a video speech by an eminent environmentalist, Mr. Kalyan Akkipeddi, who is the living example of how simple acts make big impacts in saving environment.
In keeping with the spirit of the mega event, the Dipsites regaled the audience with ‘Gangastuti’, a mesmerizing performance.
Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Gurupurab’
To celebrate the birthday of the founder of Sikhism, Gurupurab was celebrated by the children of the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. Children were apprised of the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji and they also sang holy Shabads. They were motivated to incorporate the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji in their lives.
Pre-Primary Wing organised Early Learning Series – ‘Theatre Fest’.
We at DPS, Chandigarh strive to make learning a fun filled and enriching experience for our students through play and learning by doing activities. Keeping this in mind, an initiative was taken to prepare the children of the Pre-Primary wing for the third segment of the Early Learning Series – ‘Theatre Fest’. Social causes like road safety, swachh bharat, say no to single use plastic and pollution were taken as the theme. The idea was to sensitize the students towards the need for a cleaner and healthier world and to popularise theatre as a tool in boosting the confidence of children and overall personality. The children enjoyed presenting various issues through songs and enactment. It was an enriching experience for them.
Our school bagged the first position in Inter School Tennis
In UT Inter school Tennis tournament, our school participated in U-17 Girls category and bagged the first position. It was organised by the Education Department on 4th October 2022 at Lake Club Chandigarh. The team Members are:
