First Prize in the 30th State level Children’s Science Congress 2023

Our team of young scientists Bhavesh Mahajan  and Anubhav Dogra  (Junior Category) bagged First Prize in the 30th State level Children’s Science Congress 2023 conducted by the Environment Society of India, held at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School Sector 44-D, Chandigarh on 10th January, 2023.

The Group Leader will now represent Chandigarh in the 30th National Children’s Science Congress 2023, to be held at Ahmedabad (Gujarat) from 27th January to 31st January 2023.

 

DPS celebrated Republic Day

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated India’s 74th Republic Day on 26th January, 2023 in the school premises. The patriotic fervour warmed up the cold winter morning as the teachers, parents and children of the school enthusiastically gathered to hoist the National Flag.

The flag hoisting was followed by the school Head Boy’s speech and a medley of patriotic songs sung by the school choir.

The school Principal, Mrs Reema Dewan, in her address to the gathering, took pride in enumerating the glorious milestones achieved by the nation. Endorsing the patriotic sentiments of the day, she reiterated the need to fulfil our duties diligently in order to enjoy our rights. She summed up her address by reciting the lines of J.F Kennedy- “Ask not what the country can do for you- ask what you can do for your country.”

The function concluded by the singing of the National Anthem.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Republic Day’

To keep the patriotic fervour alive the students of Pre-primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated ‘Republic Day’. The children were made aware of the significance of this day through a PowerPoint presentation. The children dressed in shades of the national flag and participated in various craft activities which they enjoyed a lot. Many patriotic songs were also sung during the class which helped instill the spirit of patriotism in the future generations. The celebration helped the children know the true meaning of a Republic and the importance it holds for each and every Indian.

Class I organised ‘ Poster Making Activity’

The children of Class I of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh were sensitized about the need and importance of water in our lives. A poster making activity on save water was conducted online to enhance the creative aspect and thought process of students on conservation of water. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity and portrayed beautiful thoughts and motivational quotes depicting the importance of saving water for present as well as future generations.

Class prep organised ‘Online Experiment Activity’

Air and Water Pollution
Pollution has become one of the most concerning issues for our planet and mankind. To sensitise the children about the same and to ensure students think about the environment, the children of Class Prep l of DPS Chandigarh were shown presentation about the various types and causes of pollution. To make learning more interesting an experiment was conducted online on water pollution. It was great to see the children observing and participating in discussion on the ways and means to reduce pollution.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘National Girl Child Day’

As an initiative to celebrate National Girl Child Day (NGCD), an oath was taken by the students of the Pre-primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh to prevent gender-based discrimination. The children were briefed about the objectives of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan’. They were further apprised about the prevention of gender based discrimination and improved education outcomes for a girl child. The children were made aware about the protection of girl child rights. The aim of this oath was to create awareness about the initiatives taken for the welfare of the girl child in the society.

Class Nursery celebrated ‘Brown Day’

An important part of learning during kindergarten years is identification and recognition of colours. Keeping this in mind, Class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organised Brown Day for the little ones during the online class. It was an enjoyable day for the children as they dressed up in brown colour and spoke about their favourite brown toy. Overall it was a fun filled day for the tiny tots.

Pre- Primary Wing organised ‘Veer Baal Diwas’

To pay tribute and honor the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji, the younger sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, as advised by Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the first ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ was organised on 26th December 2022 . The children of Classes I and II of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh were shown the digital exhibition during a virtual class wherein they learnt how the ‘Sahibzade’ sacrificed their lives, while standing up for their beliefs and keeping the dignity of Sikhism high. It was a tribute to the courage and valour shown by the ‘Sahibzade’, in pursuit of their quest for justice. This session instilled a feeling of patriotism and courage among the students.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated Christmas

The Pre-primary wing of DPS, Chandigarh celebrated Christmas with full zeal and enthusiasm spreading the message of love and joy among the children. The children came dressed in red, white and green and sang Christmas carols. They thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Christmas story and making the Christmas craft. The celebration added to the boundless joy which was visible on the faces of the children when Santa gave them a surprise visit.

Christmas Fervour at DPS Chandigarh

The school library celebrated Christmas with great exuberance and excitement from 19th December to 23rd December 2022 for class 3 to 8 in their library periods. A plethora of innovative and engrossing activities were planned and executed to create festive vibe for everyone. The school library made an earnest effort to instill the message of global peace and brotherhood by showing movie ‘Christmas Tree’ to class 3 and 4. The students were enthralled to see the dramatic presentation on the background and message of Christmas festival. The young learners of Class 5 crafted wonderful ornaments from worksheets for Santa clause. Class 6 and 7 made impressive ornaments for Snowman and Elf respectively and decorated them wonderfully. Class 8 also participated in making ornaments for reindeer.
Principal Reema Dewan expressed her delight on seeing such enthusiasm in the children. The program concluded on a joyful note with the festive spirit and invincible excitement among the students.

CBSE North Zone Skating Competition

Arshiya of Class IX-D bagged 2 gold medals in inline 500 meters and 1000 meters at Sonepat from 29th November to 1 December,2022.

Nibha Ashraf won 2 gold Medals in 500 meters and 1000 meters in Rink race.

Arjun Kansal bagged two bronze in 500 meters and 1000 meters rink race held at South Point Public School ,Sonepat Haryana from 29.11.2022 to 1.12.2022.
