Class Nursery organised “Rain Walk”

Rainy day is one such day that is awaited by everyone, especially the children. To enjoy the monsoon showers , the tiny tots of class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh went out for a Rain Walk in the school premises. Children had fun in the rain by splashing in the water puddles. It was a very refreshing and fun filled experience for the little ones. They learnt the uniqueness of the rainy season and how it is helpful for our environment.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Nature Conservation Day’

Nature Conservation Day was celebrated on July 28, 2023 in the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh to sensitize the students about the importance of reducing waste to save the future of our planet. A ‘Best Out Of Waste Activity’ was organised for the students. The objective behind this activity was to encourage our young Dipsites to think and work creatively to make marvels out of the discarded and stop wastage to conserve nature.
Students from classes Nursery to II, prepared very creative and useful items from the reusable and recycled materials like plastic bottles, empty cans, toilet rolls etc. Their happiness knew no bounds, when they created their own piggy banks, planters and utility boxes/stands.
This fun-filled activity helped to enhance not only the creativity and presentation skills of the students but also helped them to realize the importance of recycling and reusing the waste material available to them.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Get Groomed Week’

Keeping in mind the overall development of the children the Pre-Primary Wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated ‘Get Groomed Week’ . During this week children learnt about table manners, classroom and corridor manners and use of magic words through various fun filled activities and interesting worksheets .
Children were taught various skills through modules and role play. They were encouraged to follow these manners in their daily lives. Overall ,it was a great learning experience for them.

Class II organised Poster Making Activity on ‘Save Plants Save Earth’

The children of class II of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh were sensitized about the importance of plants in our lives through various modules and activities. To reinforce the same a poster making activity on ‘Save Plants Save Earth’ was conducted. This activity triggered the thought process of students on conserving plants. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity and portrayed beautiful thoughts and motivational quotes depicting the importance of plants for present as well as future generations.

Class Prep I organised ‘I Know My Plant’ Activity

To sensitize the children about various parts of a plant, an activity ‘I Know My Plant’ was organized for the students of Class Prep l. They were shown the parts of a plant using a real potted plant. The children were also shown a PowerPoint presentation and were also apprised about the different functions performed by those parts. The activity was followed by an interactive quiz session. The children thoroughly enjoyed knowing about the parts of a plant.

Class I organised ‘Dressing Up Activity’

Dressing up is an essential part of our life but wearing the right kind of clothes according to the season is even more important. To make the children aware about the different kinds of clothes that we wear in different seasons an activity was organized in class l of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh on July 19,2023.
The children took part in the activity with great enthusiasm. The children wore clothes of different seasons used beautiful props and spoke amazing lines on their use. They all thoroughly enjoyed the activity. It was a fun confidence building and learning activity.

DPS celebrated ‘National Reading Month’

DPS Chandigarh celebrated the ‘National Reading Month’ with great enthusiasm through blended mode from 19th June 2023 to 18th July 2023. The school library department planned and executed various exciting and fun-filled activities to foster the mission of Hon’ble Prime Minister to ‘Read and Grow’.
The students contributed in this vision of PM by taking ‘Reading Day Pledge’ on 19th June where the young learners promised to be an active participant in the plethora of Reading activities for becoming an avid reader. The students of class 3 to 8 wholeheartedly participated in ‘Find out the title of the book with emojis’ activity in the library period and delved into the literary genre with huge interest. Even the incessant rain and adverse weather couldn’t hold them back from taking part in ‘Slogan writing’ and ‘Quiz’ on PN Panicker through virtual mode. Such literary activities grabbed the interest of the students, and they supported the Reading mission through their reading and creative skills. The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan acknowledged the efforts of the students, and appreciated them for taking part in the national reading month activities. She emphasised that such events develop the mental horizon of the learners and make them wise and prudent.

Class Prep II organised ‘Weather Wheel Activity’

Weather Wheel Activity was organised for the students of Class Prep II of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh to make them aware about the different types of weather. They were elucidated about how we see a change in the weather every day. This activity helped them understand the fleeting weather as they made
a weather wheel by dividing a sheet of paper into four sections each depicting different kinds of weather. A movable hand was put in the centre to show the weather for the day. This hands on experience was very enriching and at the same time fun for our young learners.

Class Nursery organised ‘Blue Day’

In order to familiarise the children with blue colour, DPS Chandigarh organised ‘Blue Day’ for the students of Class Nursery. All the students and teachers were dressed in different shades of blue. Students carried their favourite blue objects and enthusiastically spoke and recited rhymes about the same. The young learners made paper boats and had fun sailing them in the water tub. It was an amazing learning experience which the students thoroughly enjoyed.

Suhani Sharma makes it to the top 25 students of the country in the ‘Sustainability Accelerator’ summer internship program

Suhani Sharma , XI C , makes it to the top 25 students of the country in the ‘Sustainability Accelerator’ summer internship program being conducted by CBSE in support with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, for accelerating sustainability mindset in youth – learn about sustainability, build solutions and get hands-on experience through projects.
Instructor led live webinars were conducted with 7 virtual sessions spread over a period of three weeks starting 23rd May 2023 and students participated in mission-based challenges, submitted assignments, developing new skills. The tasks included choosing a sustainability challenge, answering questionnaires, listing technological and non-techie solutions, designing website, identifying stakeholders, , doing cost-benefit analysis, writing stories, making presentation, recording speeches pitching your proposal and so on. Students acquired points after every mission completion. Checkpoints after every two missions decided who moved forward and mentoring support was provided. While about 10,000 students started with this program, at the end of six missions, only 100 students moved ahead to the next phase of the program. And after submission of her prototype solution to her problem statement, Suhani Sharma’ prototype has been shortlisted among the top 25 to proceed to the next stage. And now she is all busy preparing her business model canvas and ecosystem mapping highlighting the viability and potential impact of her prototype.

DPS students crowned “State Champions in Fit India Quiz 2022”

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh proves its mettle once more. Jagrit Sood and Mukul Hooda of Class XI were crowned the State Champions of Chandigarh in Fit India Quiz 2022, India’s biggest quiz on sports and fitness conducted under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry.

After the Preliminary Round, from 16702 schools across India, Team DPS Chandigarh qualified for the State/UT Round where it again surpassed 75 schools to reach the finals. Facing an intensely competitive round, Team DPS emerged as the State Champion winning a prize money of Rs. 25,000 for the team and a reward of Rs. 2,50,000/- for the school.
The students will now participate in the National Finals of Fit India Quiz 2022 scheduled to be held in Mumbai.

DPS organised an educational trip to Europe

An educational trip to Europe was organised for the students of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The trip gave an opportunity to explore and learn in an informal environment. It helped the children broaden their perspective and gave them an engaging educational experience.
Children were bubbling with excitement as they commenced their journey to some of the most important tourist sites. The children visited France, Switzerland and Italy. They saw famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum , the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Cathedrals etc. They were enticed by the beauty of Mt Titlis in Switzerland and the beautiful city of Florence in Italy. Visit to the Louvre museum in Paris and the Vatican City left the children awestruck.
While the purpose of the trip was essentially to give children a global exposure, it turned out to be a trip full of fun and frolic, which gave the children a wonderful opportunity to bond and return rejuvenated with lots of learning and sweet memories to cherish.

Arin Pal and Mukul Hooda (Both from Class XI) attended a Five day Bootcamp Programme on Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship at NITTTR Chandigarh from 22nd June to 26th June 2023, organised by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The students unleashed their creativity through design thinking and discoverd the secrets of building a successful startup.
