DPS students crowned “State Champions in Fit India Quiz 2022”

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh proves its mettle once more. Jagrit Sood and Mukul Hooda of Class XI were crowned the State Champions of Chandigarh in Fit India Quiz 2022, India’s biggest quiz on sports and fitness conducted under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry.

After the Preliminary Round, from 16702 schools across India, Team DPS Chandigarh qualified for the State/UT Round where it again surpassed 75 schools to reach the finals. Facing an intensely competitive round, Team DPS emerged as the State Champion winning a prize money of Rs. 25,000 for the team and a reward of Rs. 2,50,000/- for the school.
The students will now participate in the National Finals of Fit India Quiz 2022 scheduled to be held in Mumbai.

DPS organised an educational trip to Europe

An educational trip to Europe was organised for the students of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The trip gave an opportunity to explore and learn in an informal environment. It helped the children broaden their perspective and gave them an engaging educational experience.
Children were bubbling with excitement as they commenced their journey to some of the most important tourist sites. The children visited France, Switzerland and Italy. They saw famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum , the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Cathedrals etc. They were enticed by the beauty of Mt Titlis in Switzerland and the beautiful city of Florence in Italy. Visit to the Louvre museum in Paris and the Vatican City left the children awestruck.
While the purpose of the trip was essentially to give children a global exposure, it turned out to be a trip full of fun and frolic, which gave the children a wonderful opportunity to bond and return rejuvenated with lots of learning and sweet memories to cherish.

Arin Pal and Mukul Hooda (Both from Class XI) attended a Five day Bootcamp Programme on Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship at NITTTR Chandigarh from 22nd June to 26th June 2023, organised by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The students unleashed their creativity through design thinking and discoverd the secrets of building a successful startup.

National Reading Day Celebrations at DPS Chandigarh

National Reading Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour at DPS Chandigarh on 19th June 2023. The school library department spread the message of Hon’ble Prime Minister to ‘Read and Grow’.

The mission of developing the reading habits among the students started with the ‘Reading Day Pledge’ on 19th June where the young learners and the staff members promised to be an active participant in the plethora of Reading activities to be held throughout the month for becoming an avid reader.

Principal Reema Dewan appreciated the enthusiasm of the students for their active participation in taking pledge to be a man of words. She shared that the school has planned various interesting activities for celebrating ‘National Reading Month’ with an aim to develop the mental horizon of the learners and make them an active reader.

DPS organised “9th International Day of Yoga”

Since its inception in the year 2015, June 21 is celebrated as the International Day of Yoga all over the world. Delhi Public School, Chandigarh on the directions of Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India organised the 9th International Day of Yoga in the school premises.

The event was organised to raise awareness about the benefits of Yoga in daily life. The session began with warm up exercises, stretching and a series of asanas. The staff as well as the students of the school participated with great eagerness and enthusiasm. In her address, the school principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan encouraged the participants and urged all to follow yoga and meditation for a peaceful and healthy life. She thanked the participants for making the event immensely successful. The celebration wound up with the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” etched in everybody’s body, mind and spirit.

Pre- Primary Wing organised ‘Summer Camp’

Summer is here and so is our fun filled summer camp. It is a place where kids come together to have fun and learn a variety of new skills. Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organized a fun packed summer camp for the Pre-Primary wing from May 19 to June 3, 2023. This camp was organized with a beautiful combination of activities allowing the children to become independent and self confident, while socializing and making new friends as well as learning new skills beyond academics. To make the most of the lazy and long summer days a platter full of activities were there, from cooking without fire, art and craft to theme parties, experiments and what not. All together it was an extravagant experience for our little ones.
