It was organised by Education Department Chandigarh from 17th to 19th August 2023.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Independence Day’
The Pre-primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh observed Independence Day on August 14, 2023 with an unprecedented display of patriotism. The students showcased their spirit of freedom and love for the Nation by presenting a range of patriotic songs like ‘Aey watan, aey watan humko teri kasam’, ‘Nanha munha raahi hun’ etc.The event was made even more special by the active participation of the children in various craft activities where they enthusiastically created the tricolor flag. To add to the celebration, the children came dressed as renowned Indian personalities and freedom fighters, delivering short speeches about them. It turned out to be a delightful and educational experience for all.
During the event, the children were informed about the significance of Independence Day, emphasizing the great sacrifices made by our leaders for the Nation’s freedom. Additionally, the children gained a deeper understanding of various National Symbols and the significance of the colors of the National flag.
Class Prep I organised ‘Collage Making Activity’
Helping children learn about the world around them and the environment provides a good basis for early childhood education. Keeping this in mind, a ‘Collage Making Activity’ on seasons was organized for the children of Class Prep l, of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The children were made aware about the various seasons as well as the kind of clothing, food items, objects being used in different seasons through a Powerpoint presentation. The children made collages with the cutouts of the pictures related to the different seasons. This was an enriching learning by doing activity.
Class IV organised ‘Rakhi Making Activity’
A Seed Rakhi Making Activity was organized for the students of Class IV on August 11, 2023. The activity aimed to promote eco-friendly practices and sustainability by creating Seed Rakhis that can be planted to grow into plants. By incorporating seeds into the Rakhis, the intention was to promote a sense of responsibility towards nature among the students. The students embraced the concept of Seed Rakhis with enthusiasm and creativity. This not only engaged them in a fun crafting experience but also imparted a valuable lesson about sustainability. It served as a creative and meaningful way to celebrate the bond between siblings while fostering an eco-conscious mindset. The school’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices through such initiatives has undoubtedly left a positive impact on the students and the environment.
Class Prep I organised ‘Family Day’
A family is the biggest support system we have. To appreciate the support of family members, the tiny tots of Class Prep l of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh put up the second segment of the Early Learning Series, ‘Family Day’. This effort aimed to educate the young ones about the significance of a family in their lives. In this small show the family members of the students were invited. The children sang a melodious song and each one spoke of their love and affection for their parents. The celebration concluded with the students and parents spending quality time together.
DPS celebrated ‘Harry Potter Week’
The enchanting world of Harry Potter casted a magic spell over DPS School as students celebrated a Harry Potter Week from 31st July to 4th August 2023 in the school premises. The week-long extravaganza brought J.K. Rowling’s iconic series to life through a series of exciting activities.
Class 3 and 4 students embarked on a captivating journey into the wizarding world by colouring Harry Potter sheets and making creative Bookmarks on the theme respectively. Students of class 5 and 6 showcased their passion for the theme by preparing Sorting hats and wizarding props and wands of Harry Potter. The wall hanging made by class 7 and 8 grabbed everyone’s attention. A thrilling Quiz for class 9 and 10 added more charm to the celebrations as students outsmarted each other in intelligence.
The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan appreciated the enthusiasm of the students for this weeklong celebration. She urged the students to continue embracing the magic of classic writers like J.K. Rowling.
Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Friend’s Day’
Friends play a valuable role in our life, keeping this in mind the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh had a day dedicated to friends and friendship .The friendship that blossoms in the tender years plays an important part in the lives of children. It’s a lifelong bond. Children were told about the importance of friendship and had activities related to the same. They made greeting cards, friendship badges and friendship bands for their friends and were pretty excited to give it to their friends. They went home not only wearing their bands but also with a lovely smiles on their faces.
Suhani Sharma-Piano Recital at the National Science Seminar
Suhani Sharma, student of Class XIC, gave a piano recital at the National Science Seminar organised by Vigyan Bharti with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, at the Auditorium of DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. Prof VK Paul , Member, Niti Aayog, chaired the Seminar that was attended by many renowned academicians including a few University Vice Chancellors, with about 500 participants.
She was applauded by the distinguished audience for her mesmerizing performance and for all her hard work and effort she has put into the instrument.
