DPS students shine in Athletic Championship!

Once again our students exhibited astounding performance at Chandigarh organised athletic state meet. Today Our students bagged 5 gold medals 🏅 and smisha become best athlete in the championship out of 2000 athletes and achieved cycle from the department.

We end up with total 9 medals in which 6 gold 🏅, 2 silver 🥈 and 1 bronze medal🥉. The following students are

1. Samisha of 8-A won one gold and one silver, won cycle and declared best athlete.

2. Gautmi of 8-C won gold medal in shot put.

3. Akshit of 11 won silver medal in high jump.

4. Anaaya Nusrat of 8-A won gold medal

5. Lavanya of 6-A won gold medal

6. Mysha of 7-H won gold medal

7. Agriya of 9-H won bronze medal

Twelve students of our School have cleared DELF A2 Exam

Twelve students of our School have cleared DELF A2 Exam. They will receive certificates from the Ministry of Education, France.
DELF [Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Francaise] and DALF are the only French as a foreign lanuage diplomas issued by the French Ministry of education. They are valid for life time and are recognised world wide. These exams also allow students to study, work and immigrate in a French speaking country.

Investiture Ceremony at DPS Chandigarh

The Investiture Ceremony held at DPS Chandigarh on September 1st, 2023, was a significant and memorable event, marking the recognition of the Student Council members, Interact Club inductees, and felicitation of the school toppers of Classes 10 and 12 from the 2022-23 academic session. The ceremony was graced by esteemed guests and dignitaries, making it a momentous occasion for all present.

Dr. Shvetta Arora, Regional Officer, CBSE, Regional Office, Chandigarh, was the esteemed Chief Guest, and Rotarian Anil Chadda, President of the Rotary Club, Chandigarh, added to the honour with his presence. Director Youth Services, Rotarian Rashi Adlakha, Chairperson Interact Committee IPP, Rotarian Vinod Kapoor and other eminent Rotarians also graced the event

The ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of a lamp followed by a delightful cultural program, featuring a motivating song by the school choir, an enlightening dance performance, and a visual presentation, which set a positive and inspiring tone for the event.

The newly appointed members of the Student Council received their badges from the Chief Guest, Dr. Shvetta Arora, Regional Officer, CBSE, who also delivered an encouraging address to the students. She urged them to approach their newfound responsibilities with dedication and wholehearted commitment, emphasizing the importance of excelling in their roles.

Rotarian Anil Chadda, President of the Rotary Club, Chandigarh, Director Youth Services Rotarian Rashi Adlakha, and Chairperson Interact Committee IPP Rotarian Vinod Kapoor, pinned the Interact Club members and commended DPS Chandigarh for its commendable initiatives in promoting leadership and community service.

Principal Mrs. Reema Dewan extended her heartfelt congratulations to all the school appointees and emphasized that true leadership is not confined to words but is reflected in one’s attitude and actions. She reminded the students that effective leadership requires teamwork and collaboration, highlighting that together, they can achieve great feats. She urged them not to rest on past accomplishments but to introduce fresh ideas and make their council relevant and meaningful to the school community.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the school’s Head Boy and Head Girl. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem, marking the beginning of a journey for the newly appointed leaders to positively influence both the school and the broader society, reinforcing their commitment to uphold the school’s honour and the flag of the nation.

Pre- Primary organised ‘Rakhi Making Activity’

Raksha Bandhan is not just about rakhi,roli and mithai, it is about the unique bond between a brother and a sister.The students of Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan the traditional way.
The students made beautiful rakhis using glitter sheets, ribbon and other decorative material. They thoroughly enjoyed showing their creative side and were very excited to take their rakhis home for the festival.

Pre- Primary organised ‘Sensitization Campaign on the Environmental Concerns’

On the 3rd anniversary of NEP, 2020 as proposed by CBSE , a sensitization campaign on the environmental concerns was taken up at DPS, Chandigarh.
Various activities were conducted to educate and encourage children to understand their role and responsibility regarding the environment. Role Play on energy and water conservation, poster making activity and show and tell activity on hazards of electric wastage were conducted to sensitize the children about environmental concerns. An awareness drive to avoid wastage of food was taken out by Class I students. Children enjoyed planting sapling at home and in school under ‘One Child, One Plant’ drive. Throughout this campaign the children were enthusiastic and learnt about the contribution they can provide to save and conserve the environment.

DPS organised ‘SAMVIDHI 5.0-THE LEGAL CONCLAVE’

The fifth edition of the Legal Conclave, Samvidhi, an initiative and annual event of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh held on 25th and 26th August, came to an end with much fanfare.

The two-day event garnered a whopping participation of nearly 300 participants from tricity schools as well as pan India. The opening ceremony was held on 25th August, 2023. Mr. Dhiraj Nayar, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Boston Globe Media graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Mr. Neeraj Nayar, the dynamic leader elected to Himachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly, was the Guest of Honour. Reinforcing the school’s firm resolve to foster future leaders, the Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan in her welcome address, reiterated her commitment to skill-based learning and empowerment of students for life. She emphasized that Samvidhi in all its editions had incorporated curiosity and confidence building amongst the students along with the 4Cs advocated by NEP 2020.

With the objective of collaborative learning and healthy competition, the fifth edition of the legal fest included The Moot Court, Legal Entrepreneurship, G20 Summit Simulation and the Quiz to test and hone the intellectual prowess of the students from class IX to XII. The event witnessed a galaxy of experts who offered their tireless support and encouragement for judgment and appraisal.

The event with its thought-provoking discussions left an indelible mark on all present, giving a fresh perspective and providing valuable insights into various aspects of society. On the second day, the Hon’ble Justice Sandeep Moudgil, Punjab & Haryana High Court was the Chief Guest. Hon’ble Justice Meenakshi Mehta of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson of the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) were the esteemed Guests of Honour.

The Chief guests and the Guests of Honour lauded the efforts of the school for providing the students a platform for the intellectually stimulating and socially fulfilling experiences. It was an event pulsating with energy and cash prizes of over one lakh were rewarded to the winners in various events. The Overall Best School Trophy was won by BCM Arya Model Sr. Sec. School, Ludhiana. The audience passed through a sea of emotions as the students presented a street play on gender equality and was enthralled with melodious songs, and scintillating dance performances. The day ended with a live performance by the famous singer and music composer, B Praak, who had the audience in raptures with his electrifying performance. The event was a perfect opportunity for the students to augment their legal knowledge and the motto to spread legal consciousness and empower students was thoroughly achieved.

Pre- Primary organized ‘Orange Colour Day’

Having colour themed days is a great way to introduce and reinforce colours to children. Keeping this in mind, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organised ‘Orange Colour Day’ for the students of Class Nursery. Items were displayed by them and they spoke confidently which was quite captivating. Children explored their creativity and imagination through knuckle printing and making orange pumpkins. Teachers and children both in harmonious shades of orange enjoyed creating the hues and tints of this colour by blending red and yellow. The purpose of the activity was fulfilled with each and every child emitting enthusiasm, vigour and zest.

Tejas- Silver medal in Indian Debating league

Indian Debating league in collaboration with TRINITi offered an exceptional opportunity for students to engage in intellectual discourse and hone their public speaking and critical thinking skills. Set against the vibrant backdrop of North INdia, this event celebrated the art of Turncoat format and Debate format exploring the theme of Popular culture.
Tejas Agrawal of class 4th, participated in Turncoat format in Junior Group i.e from class 4th to 6th. Among 65 students who enrolled themselves in this group from all over INdia, Tejas was able to qualify the Qualifier Round and was selected to be the youngest finalist in Junior Group. In the final round, which was held in Learning Paths Public School, Tejas won Silver medal and secured second position and became the youngest and the only student of 4th Class.

Suhani Sharma- Our Proud Achiever

It is a proud moment for us as our student Suhani Sharma’s (Class XI) two months of relentless efforts and countless discussions with various stakeholders have culminated in a momentous occasion as ‘The Sustainability Leaders’ program was officially inaugurated by none other than Ms. Aashika Jain, Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Environment Committee in SAS Nagar, Punjab. She crossed many bridges to reach up to this glory.
