Class Prep l organised ‘Dress Up Day Activity’

In a delightful showcase of creativity and learning, the children of Class Prep l of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh participated in ‘Dress Up Day Activity’. The children came dressed up as the community helper of their choice. They spoke about the duties performed by helpers and their contribution towards the society. The engaging activity aimed to introduce the little ones to various professions, fostering a sense of community awareness and inspiring curiosity about the world around them.

Prep II organized ‘Show and Tell Activity’

We at DPS Chandigarh, believe in enlightening and educating our children in all walks of life. ‘Safety on the Road’ is one such things which we need to inculcate early. Teaching children safety on the road is essential for their protection and well-being as they navigate their surroundings. By equipping children with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to stay safe on the road, we empower them to become responsible and conscientious road users. To further enhance the same a ‘Show and Tell Activity’ was organized for the young learners of Prep II. Kids brought various toys from home like car, bike, bus etc. and spoke about the same while telling how to ensure safety on the road while walking, crossing the road or driving. The activity not only expanded their understanding of road safety but also bolstered their confidence as speakers.

Orientation Session for Class VIII

An Orientation Session for parents of grade 8 was conducted today in the school auditorium with the aim to familiarize parents with the second language, additional language, skill subjects options, curriculum, assessment pattern and expectations for the upcoming academic year, 2024-25.

After the welcome, the Head Mistress apprised the parents about school rules and regulations, including attendance, dress code, disciplinary procedures, curriculum structure and academic expectations.
Importance of open communication between parents and teachers for student success was stressed upon.
Interactive session was also there where parents asked questions and clarified doubts.

There was positive response from parents regarding the clarity of information provided.
Suggestions came for more such frequent communication sessions.

This Orientation served as a valuable platform for building a strong parent-school partnership and ensuring mutual understanding of expectations.
Essential information was disseminated to support their children’s academic journey and foster a sense of community within the school.

Suhani Sharma’s (Class XI) Research Proposal Selected for NCERT’s Prayaas Scheme

Suhani Sharma from Class XIC has achieved a remarkable milestone by having her research proposal selected among the top 20 out of a whopping 500 submissions nationwide! Her proposal, titled “Assessment of Low Uptake of Science Streams in Schools of Punjab,” has been chosen under NCERT’s prestigious Prayaas Scheme – Promotion of Research Aptitude in Young and Aspiring Students 2023.
Suhani’s journey began when she submitted her proposal back in September 2023, and now her hard work and dedication have truly paid off! The 75 shortlisted proposals, were invited for an online presentation and interview held in January 2024. With a project tenure of one year, Suhani is all set to dive into her research work and make a significant impact.
What’s more, Suhani will receive a grant of Rs 50,000/- to support her project. This generous grant includes Rs 10,000 for Suhani herself, Rs 20,000 for her school, and another Rs 20,000 for the expert from the Higher Education Institute to guide her throughout her research journey.

Class Show & Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony – Classes IX and XI

The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of the students of Classes IX and XI and the Class Show of Class IX of DPS Chandigarh was held on 31st January 2024. Mr. Rahul Gupta, IAS, Additional Secretary of Agriculture and Medical Education & Research, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Mohit Singla and Dr. Pooja Singla, eminent Dental Practitioners of the tricity were the Guests Of Honour.

The event featured a captivating cultural presentation by Class IX students titled ‘Loknritya-Virasat-e-Bharat.’ The lively folk dances from Rajasthan, West Bengal, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Punjab mesmerized the audience, offering a glimpse into the rich and unique culture of our country – the world’s most ethnically diverse land. The performances conveyed a heartfelt and enlightening message, leaving spectators amazed and awestruck.The celebration provided a platform for students to showcase their inherent talents, fostering unity among them. The venue echoed with thunderous applause, and the ambience complimented by visually stunning light and sound display left the audience spellbound.

Meritorious students from Classes IX and XI were honoured for their outstanding achievements in academics, co-curricular activities, and sports. The Chief Guest commended the students for their accomplishments, praising their zeal and enthusiasm. Principal Ms. Reema Dewan, in her address, emphasized the school’s commitment to holistic and wholesome development. She highlighted that education at DPS Chandigarh goes beyond academic excellence, aiming to shape well-rounded individuals.

The spectacular show left an indelible mark on everyone present, providing an unforgettable experience that showcased the diverse talents of the students and the school’s dedication to comprehensive development.

Top 3 positions in UniQuiz (National Level Online Psychology Quiz)

Winners of UniQuiz 2023, stand tall with pride as they receive their certificates and trophies. The quiz was held on 2nd December, 2023 in which Samaira and Kartikey of class XII got the 1st and 2nd prize, respectively and Shreya of class XI got the 3rd prize at the National level. They also won cash prizes and free summer internship.

 

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Republic Day’

The Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated Republic Day during the online class to ensure that the fervor of patriotism lives on. The children were told about the significance of the day through a PowerPoint presentation. The children were reminded that Republic Day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India. The classes echoed with patriotic songs and the celebration commenced with the students participating in various creative craft activities. The activity helped children understand the meaning of the word Republic and the importance of celebrating this special day.

TREE PLANTATION ON GIRL CHILD DAY

The National Girl Child Day is celebrated in India every year on January 24th. It was started by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India in 2008, with the purpose to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities girls face in Indian society.
To celebrate the girl child, tree plantation drive was held in DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, CHANDIGARH celebrated National Girl Child Day with the children of the Schools. The plantation drive witnessed the enthusiastic participation of the students of class 8 and the staff members. Many saplings of various species were planted in and across the school premises.

Class II organised ‘Collage Making Activity’

Transportation refers to the movement of people and goods from one place to another and it is referred to as the lifeline of a country. The students of Class II of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh were apprised about the importance of transportation and different means of transport during their online class. They were shown presentations and videos to make them understand why transportation is required and what are the different means of transport. To further enhance their knowledge a ‘Collage Making Activity’ on different means of transport was conducted wherein they segregated and pasted the pictures of vehicles that move on land, air and water. It was a fun-filled learning experience for the students.

Class Nursery organised ‘Dress Up Day’

Helpers are an integral part of our lives, be it an engineer, doctor, teacher or housekeeping staff. To make the children aware of the community helpers, Team DPS , Chandigarh organised ‘Dress Up Day’ for children of Class Nursery online. Dressed as helper of their choice, children of Class Nursery spoke about the duties performed by helpers and their contribution towards the society. It was a great learning experience for the children.

Prep I conducted online ‘Experiment on Pollution’

Pollution has become one of the most concerning issues for our planet and mankind. To sensitize our young learners about the same and to ensure that they care about the environment, the children of Class Prep l of DPS, Chandigarh were shown a presentation about the various types and causes of pollution. To make learning more innovative, an experiment was conducted online about the same. The children were made aware about the hazardous impact of polluting the environment through land, water or air and were given knowledge about the various ways to stop pollution. At the end, the purpose of conducting the experiment was fully achieved as the young learners promised to contribute positively by doing their bit to save the planet from pollution.

DPS celebrated ‘National Girl Child Day’

National Girl Child Day is a significant occasion celebrated in India. This day holds profound importance in promoting awareness about the rights, opportunities and challenges faced by girls in our society. It serves as a platform to advocate for gender equality, emphasize the importance of education for girls and address the issues often faced by them.
To honour the girls of our society, students of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh took a pledge to support and empower the daughters of our nation. There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise.
So, today and everyday, let’s support and stand with girls in shaping a world where girls and boys have equal rights and opportunities.

Prep II organised ‘Collage Making Activity on Safety Saves’

As part of our continuous commitment to promoting safety awareness among our young learners, a ‘Collage Making Activity’ was conducted for the students of Prep II at DPS, Chandigarh. The children were educated on various methods to ensure their safety both at home and on the playground. They were encouraged to bring pictures related to these safety measures and use them to create visually appealing collages illustrating things to avoid doing at home and on the playground to prevent harm. Through actively involving the children in this initiative, our goal is to foster a deeper understanding of how to stay safe and make responsible choices. This activity not only enhanced their knowledge but also stimulated their creativity. Each child independently crafted their collage contributing to their sense of confidence in the process.
