RASHTRIYA EKTA DIVAS CELEBRATIONS

The day to commemorate the herculean tasks and monumental memories of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel opened with a morning assembly. The students gathered in the ground and the assembly began with a tributary speech. The assembly was marked by the thought of the day along with speeches dedicated to Sardar Vallabh Bhai’s contributions.

The assembly proceeded with a sensational music piece by the students. Before proceeding with the RUN FOR UNITY, a pledge was sworn, by students and teachers alike, committing themselves to strive for unity and settle for nothing less. The run began with the school captains, the rest of the students at their flanks. The assembly finally concluded with the national anthem.

As the competitions for the day began, the invited schools were greeted enthusiastically in the school auditorium with a  sincere welcome speech. Following the traditional lamp lighting, the school choir performed an outstanding rendition. A student then played a delicate masterpiece on the keyboard.

The creative writing competition  had 16 teams from different schools. The talented writers wrote interesting entries on “Unity and Strength”. The Jingle writing competition also had 16 teams. Students presented wonderful jingles in english, hindi and punjabi. The debate was contested by 13 teams which put forward strong opinions on unity and realism. The hindi declamation was conducted between 16 teams with strong orators and talented speakers. The students outdid themselves with inspiring speeches. Poster making and Collage making competitions revealed artists with unique ideas and tremendous potential. The face painting competition was an arena of overflowing creativity. The students painted beautifully keeping in line with the topic of “Unity and Safety”.

The highlight of the day was the online quiz in which 20 teams participated answering 120 questions on the life of the iron man  of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. It was a perfect tribute to the great man.

DPS Chandigarh wins Nrityanjali 2014  

DPS Chandigarh hosted the  Annual Inter- DPS Dance Festival ‘NRITYANJALI 2014’ on October 17th 2014 in the school auditorium. The dance competition featured twelve dance teams from North Zone – 1. The participating teams presented fabulous dances depicting the joys of school life with a positive message. Mr G. S. Channi, Chairman, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy,  graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The competition was adjudged by eminent personalities, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Mr Jasveer Kumar and Mr Bandeep Rekhi.

DPS  Chandigarh was adjudged the winner while DPS Jalandhar and DPS Jammu bagged the second and third positions respectively thereby qualifying for the National Level event to be held in December 2014.

 

 

Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign at DPS Chandigarh

The campus of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh came alive as the children plunged into action to carry out Swachh Vidyalaya campaign. All areas of the school including classrooms, toilets, drinking water areas, library, labs, school garden and school playground were cleaned. Special assemblies were organized with the aim of spreading awareness regarding importance of hygiene and cleanliness in our surroundings. The students and staff solemnly pledged to keep the environment clean. They promised to make a conscious effort to make the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan a grand success.

 

Our Boys Football team bagged the Runner’s Up position in Subroto Cup.

Our school Football team bagged the Runner’s Up position in Subroto Cup in U-17 boy’s category held on 25th July,2014 and Second position in St. John’s Football Tournament. The team consists of Manik Chawla, Shivansh Setia, Gurkaran Singh, Deepak Nayyar, Dhruv Kodan Sharma, Harshiv Chawla, Arvind Sethi, Jugad Singh Gill, Arjun, Uday Pratap Singh, Yuvraj Singh Pinta, Chetanya Sharma, Himmat Khakh Singh, Abhay Bhardwaj,  Harshvardhan Dhaiya, Mridul Bhushan Jassal.
