Class Nursery January Activity-‘Fitness- A Way of Life’

Fitness was the theme of the month. Nursery students of Delhi Public School participated in various physical activities that use physical movements to allow children to use their energy, learn new things and socialize. Development of both gross and fine motor skills and laying the foundation for an active and healthy life were the objectives of the activities.

 

Smera Mehta (Class X-B) participated in the Indian Children’s Science Congress, as part of the 104th Indian Science Congress.

Smera Mehta (Class X-B) participated in the Indian Children’s Science Congress, as part of the 104th Indian Science Congress, held at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh from 3rd to 7th January, 2017. The Indian Science Congress was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.

DPS Chandigarh celebrates Republic Day 

Delhi Public School Chandigarh celebrated Republic Day with great patriotic zeal and fervour. The tri-colour was hoisted in the school premises with the national anthem being played in the background.  The melodious rendition of ‘Saare Jahan se Achha’ moved everyone.  The highlight of the day was the soulful rendition of ‘Hum Veer Sipahi Hai’ wherein the school choir paid a tribute to our brave soldiers. The school vice-head girl in her speech talked about the significance of the day. Later, all staff members and students joined in for refreshments.

The Principal Mrs. Reema Dewan wished everyone on this special occasion.  She urged all to be the change that we wish to see in our country. She encouraged all to celebrate the day by remembering that rights and duties go hand -in -hand.

 

Science Week celebrated at DPS

 

Science week was marked from 13th Jan 2017 to 23rd Jan 2017. Students of Classes III to X participated enthusiastically in the various activities.

Class III students made the nests of different birds using twigs, threads, dried leaves, pebbles, egg shells and clay.

Class IV Students demonstrated simple experiments related to day to day life and explained the scientific principle related to the same.

Class V- A science quiz was conducted based on the topics covered in science till classs 5.

Class VI students demonstrated simple experiments based on day to day life and explained the scientific principles related to the same.

Class VII participated in ”Tambola” based on science.

Class VIII put up an exhibition which covered various topics like Noise Pollution, Star & Solar System, Energy Conservation, Wonders of Electricity. Students participated actively in this activity and explained the relevant concepts.

Class IX students were shown a movie “Gravity”.

Class X students were shown a movie “Interstellar”.

Seven Children from our School participated in on-the spot painting competition, as a part of traffic week organised by Chandigarh traffic police.

We bagged the following positions: Palak (Class IX-B)- First position (Senior category), Manya (X-H)- Second position (Senior category), Anoushka (Class VI-H)- First position (Junior category) and Nitima (Class VI-D)- Second position (Junior category).

Class I December Activity-‘Exploring the Unknown-Animals’

 

The children should be made aware about the importance of animals on the planet and in their life. Keeping this in mind the topic of monthly activity for Class I was “Exploring the Unknown- Animals”. The activity was split week wise where different aspects of the Animal Kingdom like Classification, Saving Animals, Endangered Species and Usefulness to Us, were covered. The topic was made interesting with the help of creative worksheets, collage making activity and extempore.

GANIT WEEK celebrated in DPS

Ganit week was celebrated from December 19, 2016 –December 23, 2016 in Delhi Public school to celebrate Srinivasa Ramanujan’s birthday, which is also celebrated as National Mathematics Day. All students from Classes III to X participated in various activities conducted during this week. The activities were ‘Mathematical Joker’, ‘Who has, I have’, ‘Mathematical Trail’, ‘Mathopoly’, ‘Pamphlet Designing’, ‘Mathematical Bingo’ and ‘Mathematical Table Mat Making’. Class IX attended a seminar on ‘Popularizing Mathematics’ in school auditorium by Mr. Vishal Kataria, Headmaster where many interesting facts were shared with the students. Class X had a quiz competition, its Preliminary round was compulsory for all the students. The shortlisted students participated in Inter-house quiz on the final day of this week. Students enjoyed all the activities and participated enthusiastically. They displayed their creativity and analytical skills.

Class Prep ELS–’Rumble in the Jungle’

To sensitize the children of Class Prep about the importance of flora and fauna, ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ was staged on 22nd December 2016. It was a part of our Early Learning Series Programme. The children took the audience on a Jungle Safari and left them mesmerized. Pretty props, song, rhyme and dance greatly enthused one and all present there.

Class Nursery celebrated Red Week

Students of Nursery celebrated Red Week from 19th to 23rd December, 2016 which was last in the series of colour weeks. To reinforce the concept of red colour students came dressed in red clothes, brought red colour objects and red coloured snacks in their lunch boxes. This week covered a gamut of activities including craft work, worksheets and modules. The week culminated with a Christmas Party. The boundless joy was amply visible on the faces of children especially when Santa moved around distributing sweets. The objective behind these colour week celebrations is to improve colour recognition and enhance creative and imaginative skills of the students.
