NURSERY ORIENTATION 2017-18

 

“A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of the universe.”

Under the guidance of our Principal, Ms Reema Dewan an Orientation Programme for class Nursery for the session 2017-18 was held on March 29, 2017.

The aim was to familiarize the parents with the school curriculum, teaching methodology, rules and regulations.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the parents followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The school Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan addressed the gathering and gave guidelines about effective parenting.

The Orientation helps create the foundation for positive relationship between parents, school and teachers that sets the stage for a smooth transition to school and future success.

Class II Annual Sports Meet-‘Udaan’

Class II enjoyed a day full of fun and frolic in the sun on their Annual Inter House Sports Meet ‘Udaan’ on 27th February, 2017 as a part of their ELS programme. The day began with the Opening ceremony and a Welcome speech. It was followed by the Drill. Once the races began, the exhilaration multiplied with everyone cheering and encouraging the young athletes. Yoga and Aerobics were highlight of the day. The day ended with the Prize distribution where the winners were awarded certificates.

Second Prize at State Level Kala Utsav-Dance Competition

Students of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh bagged the 2nd Prize in the ‘State Level Kala Utsav‘- Dance competition organised by the MHRD in October 2016. The theme of this event was ‘Living Traditions of Art’. Total 19 teams participated in this event showcasing well-choreographed traditional folk dances from different states. The DPS team presented Santhali’- a very popular folk dance of Jharkhand.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on 21st February 2017 in Tagore Theatre. Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest. The occasion also marked the presence of Director School Education, District Education Officer, Principals of various Schools and other dignitaries.

The students of DPS-40, presented the vibrant ‘Santhali’ in its true spirit and flavour at the ceremony. School Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan and her team were awarded at the ceremony. Each participant was also awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1200/-.

Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan congratulated the 10 participants and encouraged them to nurture their talent.

Class I-‘Sports Day’

The school playground of Delhi Public School reverberated with enthusiasm on 22nd February as Class I celebrated its Sports Day, ‘Rise High and Touch the Sky’. The Sports Day began with the Opening Ceremony and a welcome speech. It was followed by ‘Drill’ students geared up in colourful sunshades and ribbons. Once the races began, the air resonated with loud cheers encouraging the young athletes. The entire show was a grand success.

Class Nursery Show-‘The Little Mermaid’

The students  of class Nursery of DPS Chandigarh performed a musical tale ‘The Little Mermaid’ a story of a young mermaid longing for life above the waves. The magical kingdom beneath the sea came alive on the stage.

The show witnessed hundred percent participation thus giving each child an opportunity to showcase their skills talent and hone their skills

The colourful and vibrant costumes of the children cast a magical spell on the audience.

The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan while addressing the audience stated that it is the school’s endeavour to ensure holistic development  of children and such shows help in making them enriched and wholesome personalities.

Class Prep Show-‘Toy Story’

The students of class Prep staged a musical saga ‘Toy Story’… The Mystical Land of Toys on 22nd February 2017.

Based on the all-time favourite tale for children, The Toy Story was a glimpse into the world of toys when no one is watching them. It was enthralling to watch 187 angels of Prep singing and dancing in their vibrant costumes creating magic on stage. The children captured the hearts of all present with their mesmerising performance.

Class I ELS –The Greatest Wealth Is Health

We at DPS Chandigarh encourage the children to eat healthy and nutritious food and aptly enough the topic for Class I ELS was ‘The Greatest Wealth is Health’. The children were sensitized about the fact that no single food contains all the nutrients that our body needs therefore eating well means eating a variety of foods. They were also made aware of the food pyramid and the benefits of carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins.
