Christmas celebrated by Pre Primary Wing
The pre-primary wing vibrated with the echoes of Christmas carols on the occasion of Christmas. The wing wore a festive look with the bells, stars and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Several activities like hand crafted showman, mask of santa and making of Christmas card were organised for the students. Children were made familiar with a whole new word bank related to the festival. The children were told about the birth of Lord Jesus and the legend Santa Claus. The children of class Nursery came dressed in red and white and spread their innocence. The true spirit of ‘share and care’ was the soul of the celebration.

Nursery ELS V –’Toon World’
Childhood days are full of imagination and dreams. Kids and cartoons are inseparable. Above all fun activities, children love to watch cartoons. Cartoons create a world to which kids can relate to. Students of Class Nursery participated in ELS V ‘Toon World’. They were given a chance to enact their favourite cartoon character and speak a few lines about it. Watching them dressed up in colourful costumes was a treat, as their happiness and excitement was reflected in every word and action.
Annual Prize Distribution of Classes V & VI
Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organised the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony and the Class Show for classes V and VI. The Principal, Mrs Reema Dewan, welcomed the chief guest, Mrs Gagandeep Kaur Brar, District Town Planner, Mohali and addressed the august gathering. She congratulated all the participants for being confident performers devoid of any stage fright. She stressed upon the holistic development of the children which include the six C’s namely critical thinking, collaboration, communication, character, culture and connnectivity.
550 students of classes V and VI participated enthusiastically. The show commenced with invigorating band followed by the choir which inspired everyone with their meaningful lyrics. The students were seen performing in vibrant attires, spreading the message of keeping oneself fit, healthy and happy through a variety of fitness regimes.
The show was an amalgamation of yoga, aerobics, drills, gymnastics and a glimpse of outdoor sports. Later, the meritorious students were felicitated for their acievements in academics, sports and cultural activities.
The chief guest praised the efforts of the school in moulding the personalities of the children and discovering the latent talent in each child through such cultural activities. The event concluded with the grand finale.
Class III-‘Mathematical Joker Making Activity’
During the celebration of ‘Maths Week’ from 19th December to 23rd December, 2016, Class III organised a ‘Mathematical Joker Making Activity’. The children made the joker with the help of 2-D shapes cutout of origami sheets. The children came up with beautiful and creative jokers. They really enjoyed making the joker.
Nursery December Activity-‘Learning Is Fun’
Playway method of learning is child centered and it’s an effective way of teaching children. Keeping this in view the tiny tots of Nursery played variety of games based on numbers and letters. These games focused on both fine and gross motor skills. It was a very enriching and fun filled experience for the little ones.
Class III -‘Snowman Making Activity’
The students of Class III enjoyed the Snowman Making Activity held on 16th December, 2016 in their SUPW period. They decorated the snowman with cotton, wool, origami and colourful sheets etc. The activity was organised to give a cheerful start to the winter season. The children came up with colourful snowmen.
Class Prep December Activity- ‘Eat Healthy to Stay Healthy’
‘Eat Healthy to Stay Healthy’ was the theme of the month. The students of Class Prep learned about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables in their diet. The tiny tots learned about the taste, smell, colour and texture of each fruit and vegetable. Children also understood why vegetables should be washed before eating fresh fruits. Children sang the fruits and vegetables song with zest and enthusiasm. Activities like making a fruit for the young learners. All children agreed on the fact that fruits and vegetables are better than junk food.
Class I November Activity- Pollution
Pollution has become a large problem and is causing great harm to our environment. Children of today need to know about the different types of pollution and the sources of pollution. They also need to know preventive measures so that they can protect the environment from further damage. These were the objectives fulfilled through the modules, worksheet and nature walk.
Class II ELS IV-Incredible India

In sync with the mission to root the young Dipsites to the rich Indian heritage, a programme- Incredible India was organised for the students of Class II. The students spoke lines on the rich cultural heritage of the various states of our country and mesmerized the audience with the sweet rendition of the patriotic song. The children thanked the parents for sparing their valuable time and being a part of the ELS.
Class I- Picnic to Fragrance Garden
The children of Class I were taken for a picnic to Fragrance Garden in sector 36. It was a great change from their day to day mundane routine as their assignments had just got over. They were very excited carrying mouth- watering snacks and goodies in their picnic bags. Various games were played in the park where the teachers too joined in, adding to the merriment.
Awareness Drive For Municipal Corporation Elections-2016
An awareness drive about the importance of public participation in the voting processes was conducted in Delhi Public School, Sector 40, Chandigarh. Various activities were conducted to sensitise and spread awareness about the ‘Franchise to Vote’ among students. Students were seen enthusiastically participating in the various activities. Where Class 7 and 8 students were seen deeply engrossed designing posters unleashing their creativity, the Class 9 students wrote powerful slogans echoing the theme. Class 10 students thoroughly enjoyed attempting the election quiz. All the activities were videographed.
The Social Science teachers delivered a talk on the importance of public participation of the students in the voting process and their role to exhort their parents to cast their vote in the forthcoming Municipal Elections on December 18, 2016.
Class VII Show- ‘Navras’
Students of Class VII of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh had the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony and presented their Class Show ‘Navras’.
Mrs. Tanu Kashyap, IAS, Punjab Cadre graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
300 students of Class VII showcased the prime human emotions of love, laughter, bravery, compassion, anger, bhakti and shanti which help us to understand ourselves better. They put forward a vibrant show celebrating the nine emotions – ‘Navras’.
The meritorious students were felicitated for their academic performances.
Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan congratulated all the participants for the beautiful show. She stressed on reaching out to each student and providing them a platform to make them confident, aware and committed. She advised the parents to help their children explore and follow their passions.
