Our school team bagged 2nd Runners-up trophy in North Zone Inter DPS Football Tournament held at DPS Greater Faridabad from October 10, 2017 to October 14,2017. Aryan Bhatti of class XI bagged Player of the Tournament award.The team comprised of Himmat Singh(12A), Hemantbir Singh(12B), Ishan Puri(12B), Rahul Malhotra(12C), Vinsham Chhabra(11B), Arjun(12E), Riyaz Ul Haq(12E), Angad(12E), Aryan Bhatti(11D), Aryan Lamba(11D), Arunavak Singh(11B), Anubhav(10A), Gauren Bhagat(10A), Biraaj Sahib(10C), Shubham(10C) and Abhay Partap(12B).
Class Nursery celebrated Nutritious Week
To bring about an awareness and to inculcate healthy eating habits among the children, the students of Class Nursery celebrated “Nutritious Week” from 23.10.17 to 27.10.2017. They were told about the importance and benefits of a healthy and balanced diet through discussions, stories and rhymes. They brought healthy tummy tickling food in their lunch boxes daily.
The DPS International Chess Tournament Boys (Open) 2017
Delhi Public School hosted the DPS International Chess Tournament Boys (Open) 2017 on 27th and 28th October, 2017. 25 DPS schools from all over the country participated in the event. Mr Himal Gusain graced the inaugural function. Dr Mahender Singh, Joint Director Sports, Department of Sports and Principal, Govt. College of Yoga Education and Health, UT Administration, Chandigarh and Mr. Rakesh, District Treasury Officer and Additional Secretary, State Transport Authority, UT Chandigarh were the guests of honour at the Valedictory and the Prize Distribution Ceremony.
The winner of board 2 was Daksh Sharma, DPS Manali and board 1 was Soham Kamotra, DPS Jammu. DPS North Kolkata and DPS Rourkela won the second and first runners up respectively. The winner of the tournament was DPS Manali and the best player award was bagged by Aditya Priya from DPS Bhilai.
Pre- Primary Wing Diwali Celebrations
The Pre- Primary Wing wore a festive look as the students celebrated ‘Diwali’. The significance of the day was brought out through stories, movies and class discussions. Various activities such as Diya Making, Diwali Card Making, Toran Making were organized. They were also made aware of hazards of bursting crackers and were advised to refrain from bursting crackers. They promised to celebrate a Safe Diwali.
Class VII Show- ‘Albeli Sargam’
Students of Class VII of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh had their Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony and Class Show ‘Albeli Sargam’ on 11 October, 2017.
The students participated with zeal and enthusiasm and put up a spectacular show. Mr Inderjeet Mehta, Director Administration cum District and Sessions Judge, Chandigarh Judicial Academy was the Chief Guest.The Principal congratulated the students motivating them to strive for excellence in a balanced and unified manner that incorporated body, mind and spirit. She urged the parents to be their children’s best friend, mentor and guide. She assured them of all the security measures taken in school for the well being of the children.
The meritorious students were awarded blazers, badges and trophies for their excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.
The show was a unique take on the seven musical notes . Sa denoted sang re – rang, ga-google, ma- mitr, pa- parivar, dha- dhamal, nee- neend . They won a thunderous applause from the audience for their riveting performance.
Nursery September Theme-‘FUN TO BE FIT’
Fun to be fit was the theme for the month of September. Nursery students of Delhi Public School participated in various physical activities that use physical movements to allow children to use their energy, learn new things and socialize. Development of both gross and fine motor skills and laying the foundation for an active and healthy life were the objectives of the activities.
Pre Primary Wing Celebrated Dussehra
To symbolize the victory of good over evil, the students of Nursery, Prep, I and II were enlighted about the significance of celebrating Dussehra. They were shown modules and movies related to Lord Rama. Story telling sessions were conducted to acquaint them with the characters of Ramayana. To inculcate creativity amongst the students a Dussehra activity was done in all the classes. Children took home the message that good always triumphs over evil.
22 Member DPS Students-Teachers Delegation Left for Malaysia
Delhi Public School to tie-up with a Malaysian School for Educational and Cultural Exchange Programmes
Today, on occasion of World Tourism Day, a 22 member delegation of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh led by Ms. Sapna Nagpal and Ms. Sapna Gajwani left for a six days visit to Malaysia. During their visit, which is facilitated by Yuvsatta – an NGO, they will be visiting SMK VIVEKANANDA School at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. This international delegation was flagged-off today by American Gandhi Bernie Meyer-the brand Ambassador of annual Global Youth Peace Fest.
Giving details of the initiative, Ms Reema Dewan, Principal of the School, said that in Malaysia, schools are doing excellent at national and international level by combining academics with use of technology, sports and extra-curricular activities. There is so much we can learn from each other, especially in a global world such students exchange programmes are a key tool for building “bridges of understanding & dialogue”—because we believe that global connectivity is important to peace and stability of the human race.
“Such exchange programmes improve children’s life skills and understanding of different cultures. This increases their IQ and confidence too”, added senior environmentalist and Butterfly expert Kulbhushan Kanwar who is also accompanying this group on behalf of Yuvsatta.
Summing up the educational and cultural exchange excursion, Bernie Meyer added that ‘School exchanges and trips overseas are brilliant for developing your partnerships with schools abroad and introducing students and staff to new ideas, cultures and languages’.
During their stay at Malaysia, DPS students will also be going to third largest state of Pahang in Malaysia, which is also home to the famous Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary.
They will also visit the famous Twin Towers, Fish aquarium, Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park and Putra Mosque at Kuala Lumpur. Their meetings with senior officials of International Youth Centre at Kuala Lumpur and Ministry of Youth & Sports in Government of Malaysia are also planned.

Class Nursery ELS III- ‘It’s a Farm’
In the third segment of ELS, children of Class Nursery were given a chance to enact as a farm animal and speak a few lines about them.
Watching them was a treat as their happiness and excitement was reflected in every word and action. The highlight of the ELS was that each and every child got an opportunity to participate and perform in front of their proud parents.
Class II Show-‘Beauty and the Beast’
The students of Class ll of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh took the audience on a spectacular journey as they participated in the Annual Show through a mesmerizing musical masterpiece- ‘Beauty and the Beast’ that was not just an entertainer but came with an important message that,’ When we love, we can actually transform lives and be transformed in the process.’
Dressed in beautiful costumes, the students exhibited their talent and emotions through dances and enactment. The audience was enthralled by the colourful and well directed dance drama. The programme ended with a vote of thanks and address by the school Principal, Mrs Reema Dewan, who emphasized on the vision of DPS at creating global citizens. She lauded the efforts of the students for an enthralling function.
