Ganit Utsav was celebrated in DPS Chandigarh

Ganit Utsav was celebrated in DPS Chandigarh from 21st December, 2018 to 27th December, 2018 with great enthusiasm. All classes from III to X undertook various activities like Mathematical Bingo, Maths Wall, Maths Magazine, Mathematical Skit and Dumb Charades.

Students showed great interest in making these activities successful. For Classes VI and X, Maths Quiz was conducted in the School Auditorium Preliminary Round was compulsory for all students and shortlisted students participated in the final round. Class V students performed various Maths tricks/games which involved applications of mathematical concepts. Students enjoyed all the activities and displayed their creative and cognitive skills.

DPS Alumni Meet at Satva

“I think the success of any school can be measured by the contribution the alumni make to our national life.” John F. Kennedy.

To give a platform to the alumni, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organized an Alumni Meet at Satva on December 26, 2018. It was an evening filled with  fun, masti and music. The students who had passed out from the school were eager to blend again into the fabric of school life. They were so happy to meet the faculty and go down the memory lane. The evening also marked the election and selection of student body who would be active and organize such meets in the coming year.

 

Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan congratulated the newly elected student body and said she looked forward for their active participation from now on. It was nostalgic to see and revive the school days again.

 

Class II Class Show-‘Heidi’

The children of Class II of Delhi Public School Chandigarh, had their class show on 27 December 2018, amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation. The theme for the same was- ‘Heidi – Girl of the Alps’. The auditorium wore a colourful look with children dressed in vibrant costumes. The theme portrayed the true meaning of lifelong friendship. Children enacted and danced beautifully on foot tapping music that left the audience mesmerised. After the curtain call, Principal ma’am Ms Reema Dewan addressed the gathering. She congratulated the teachers, students and the parent fraternity for their constant support and guidance. The show ended on a happy and joyful note.

 

Excellence in Co-Curricular Education Award

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh has been awarded Co-curricular Education Certificate of Excellence for its outstanding commitment and exceptional efforts on promoting Co-Curricular Education by Scoolstars. Scoolstars Leadership Awards for excellence in Co-curricular education is an unprecedented initiative to celebrate the enormous contribution of school leaders and co-curricular educators for their invaluable contributions in promoting talent beyond academics in schools.

They have also honoured Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan for excellence in ‘Thought Leadership’ in Co-curricular Education 2018-19.

 

Class Prep-ELS V-‘I am a Superhero’

 

The fifth segment of Early Learning Series ‘I am a Superhero’ aimed at making the children of Class Prep learn about Superheroes who area fictional character who have abilities beyond those of normal humans. A fascination with Superheroes can benefit a child in many ways including boosting confidence and raising their self- esteem. Watching them was a treat, as the little ones looked adorable in their Superhero costumes. They spoke about the powers of Superheroes and how they use them for good to save others. With their parents as audience the little ones also sang a melodious song and enthused one and all present there.

Second Runners Up and Best Props Award in the Inter DPS Dance Nationals (Nrityanjali)

Our School dance team comprising of Ritika Singh (X-F), Sanya Ghosh (X-F), Mehr Mehta (X-F), Vanya Sidana (X-H), Ojasvita Sikka (IX-D), Sanchita Kalra (IX-D), Baani Nayyar (IX-D), Pranjal Sood (IX-C) and Dhruv Madan (VIII-E) bagged the Second Runners Up position and Best Props Award in the National Level of Nrityanjali 2018-Inter DPS Dance Festival held at DPS Greater NOIDA on 24th November 2018.

Neh Singla and Rehhan Chadha of Class V secured  Second position at the State-Level Project Presentation for National Children’s Science Congress 2018

Neh Singla and Rehhan Chadha of Class V secured  Second position at the State-Level Project Presentation for National Children’s Science Congress 2018. The event was organised by environmental society of India at DAV School Lahore, Sector 8 Chandigarh on 8th December 2018 on the theme “Science, Technology and Innovation for a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation” along with 5 sub themes. The selected teams will participate at the National Level NCSC to be held from December 27 to 31 at Bhubaneswar and at 105 Indian Science Congress to be held from January 3 to 7, 2019 at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar.

Class I Excursion- ‘Terrace Garden’

At DPS, we believe that trips and excursions are a perfect way to expand one’s horizon. This is why we organize regular excursions for students to promote learning through outdoor interactions and experiences.

The students of Class I visited the ‘Terrace Garden on Dec. 6, 2018. They were very excited for the trip since this experience was altogether new for them. The calm and serene atmosphere of the garden filled them up with renewal energy. They played different games with their classmates.

It was a day full of fun and frolic, refreshing snacks and lunch to munch on.

Wall of Kindness

Delhi Public School Chandigarh joined the worldwide charitable movement with a “Wall of Kindness” that was set up on the outer school wall. This was done with the aim to encourage people to donate miscellaneous useful things such as winter clothing for the needy.The motto of the movement are two sentences which appear on the wall: “leave it if you don’t need it”  and “take it if you need it”. The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, motivated students, teachers and parents to donate for the noble cause.

 

One Nation Reading Together Day

Delhi Public School Chandigarh celebrated ‘One Nation Reading Together Day’.

Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan said that the greatest gift we can give to our children is the passion for reading. She emphasized that just like exercise is so important for body, reading is best exercise for mind.

This activity encouraged reading  and acquainted children with books. All the students and staff members read a book to celebrate reading as a pleasurable experience.

Pre Primary Wing- ‘Run For Fun’

Apart from academics, sports play a vital role in developing a child’s personality. It instills the quality of leadership, self-confidence and team spirit. As part of Early Learning Series, ‘Run for Fun’ a week long sports meet from 27th November to 30th November, 2018 was organized for Pre- Primary Wing where mass participation was an important parameter. The event comprised a number of races like – Hoopla race, hurdle race, balancing the ball, roll the ball, three legged race and many more. The students enthusiastically cheered for their teams. The proud winners were awarded with medals. A tug of war was also held where all the sections participated enthusiastically. It was a day filled with fun, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

European Education Summit attended by Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan

Mrs. Reema Dewan, Principal, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh attended the European Education Summit in Finland from October 30 to November 1, 2018. She met officials from International High Schools and Universities and discussed potential partnerships for student and faculty exchange programmes besides exploring student scholarship programmes with European Universities. During the workshop and training, she got an opportunity to become familiar with the Finnish Education System, their society and culture. Guided visits to Finnish High Schools and Universities helped to become familiar with their teaching practices and areas of development.

At Inter DPS National Science Festival, held at DPS Mathura Road, Delhi, on November 24, 2018, our School won the following prizes:
