Students selected for Residential BootCamp for Entrepreneurship Development

Recognizing that schools are breeding grounds for creativity, the Entrepreneurship & Rural Development Centre (ERDC) places emphasis on nurturing entrepreneurial skills at the school level. In line with this, ERDC is organizing a five-day Residential Bootcamp ‘Enlightening the Entrepreneurial Spirit’ at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Punjab during the summer break (2023). The Bootcamp aims to identify and engage young, enthusiastic minds who will shape the future through their entrepreneurial pursuits.

Five Class 9 students from DPS Chandigarh have been selected for the program, with more expected to be selected in subsequent lists. This opportunity provides a platform for students to explore new opportunities and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. We wish our shortlisted students good luck!

Pranshi of class X wins a bronze in Fencing in Khelo India Youth Games 2022

Pranshi of Class 10 has done the school proud by winning a bronze medal in Fencing during the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 held at Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh on February 10,2023 .She was felicitated by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh. She also won a cash prize of Rs.20,000 , on 11th May, 2023 at Chandigarh.

DPS student ranks First in ‘National Talent Search Examination 2022-23’

Suhani Sharma (currently in Class XI), student of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh secured the first rank in Class Tenth, in the two-day National Camp of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) – India’s Largest Science Talent Search Examination 2022-23 organised by Department of Science and Technology, and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Govt. of India, held on 20th & 21st May 2023 at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram IISER TVM).

As the first rank Himalayan winner, Suhani received a merit certificate, a shield, Rs 25000 cash prize alongwith a year-long Bhaskara fellowship, and an internship opportunity, Srijan, with a leading Science research Institution of the country.

Besides, the national winners called Himalayans, VVM also announced the Zonal winners for the four zones, class wise. Bhavesh Mahajan (currently in Class IX), from DPS Chandigarh bagged the third zonal position for Class VIII.

Earlier both Suhani and Bhavesh had secured the First rank in the State Camp held on 5th Feb, at Punjab University, Chandigarh and the District level competition held in November 2022.

Class XII Class Show ‘Hasya Vyangya – andaaz apna apna ’

The students of class XII DPS Chandigarh, presented their class show ‘Hasya Vyangya – andaaz apna apna ’ an intersection competition, on the occasion of Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony, celebrating the tragi-comedy of life. The meritorious students were felicitated for their academic performance. The competition was judged by Dr. Shailja and Dr. Kanwaljit Chahal.

The show opened with a soul stirring Ganesh Vandana. Then the zealous students put up a spectacular show by satirizing the most prevalent ills of society with a humorous take on them. The students conveyed an artistic burlesque on the journey of life-Jeevan Ek Yatra, Overuse of Phones by the youth, Nazar Hati- Durghatna Ghati, Ghar Ghar ki Kahani, Suno Hamari Zubani and Aaina- a mirror of life with a covert message to the audience to introspect and herald a change.

The applause by the parents proved testimony to the laudable effort of the participants. The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan congratulated all those who made the program a grand success. She said that extracurricular activities help in the holistic development of children and advised students to balance their academics with co-curricular activities.

Class X Class Show

The Cultural Show was presented by students of class 10 of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The show held the audience in awe and left them enlightened. Principal Ms Reema Dewan appreciated the efforts put forth by the students and wished them well for the upcoming academic session. The function included: Navchetna-Ek Naya Aayaam, Youngistan, Unsung Heroes, Meri Awaaz Suno, Jasbaat-e-Rang, Jazbaa-e-Watan, Desh ki Dhadhkan and Har dil Kuch Kehta Hai. The students were dressed in vibrant colours, and they expressed diverse emotions in a very flawless manner. The students were awarded prizes for the Academic as well as Co-Curricular areas. The celebration proved to be a platform for the students to come together & show their inherent talents. The venue reverberated with thunderous applause. The ambience was complimented by the mind-blowing lighting and sound which was a visual treat to the audience who left the venue spellbound. The spectacular show was an unforgettable experience and left a lasting impression on the minds of everyone present.

Pre- Primary Wing organised ‘Pyjama Party’

An amazing amalgamation of colourful pyjamas, mushy pillows, soft toys and lots of fun was witnessed during the ‘Pyjama Party’ organized for the children of the Pre-primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. Children were dressed in colourful pyjamas and carried their favourite soft toys. The classroom was transformed into a fun filled play area. The children swayed to their favourite dance numbers and also watched a movie. They were thrilled to play with their soft toys and share them with their friends. It was truly mesmerizing to see them laughing and enjoying the party.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Mother’s day’

To celebrate the unfathomable power of a mother, the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated Mother’s Day to honour motherhood. The tiny tots put up presentations for their moms in their beautifully decorated classrooms. The mothers were surprised when they received a video presentation from their children expressing their love for their mothers. The students mesmerized their mothers by singing a melodious song. It was a heart warming moment for the mothers as the children made their mothers feel special.

Classs Prep organised Session On ‘Table Manners’

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organised a session on ‘Table Manners’ for the students of Prep ll to inculcate good eating habits and etiquettes. The session was a very good learning experience for the children where they learnt the correct way of setting the table and various types of cutlery and the correct use of it. The children also understood the importance of correct posture of sitting, use of napkin, how to serve food as well as how to be excused from the table. The activity aimed at strengthening the holistic development of each and every child by developing their social and self-management skills.

Classes I & II Class Show ‘Circus…Vaganza -Come One, Come All’

Students of Classes I and II of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented the class show, ‘Circus…Vaganza -Come One, Come All’.

The children dazzled the audience with their acrobatic skills and dancing. The use of colourful costumes and props created a magical atmosphere that mesmerized the audience. The highlight of the event was the Principal’s address, where she spoke about the importance of learning valuable lessons from the circus. She emphasized the values of discipline, hard work, and dedication that were exemplified by the performers. The event was enjoyed by parents and students alike and was a memorable experience for everyone.

ROTARY CLUB AND DPS CHANDIGARH CELEBRATE ZONAL INTERACT UTSAV

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh hosted the Zonal Interact Utsav organized by the Rotary Club Chandigarh on Tuesday, 9th May 2023 . Rtn. V.P. Kalta, Distt. Governor was the Chief Guest of this event. Assistant Governor and Convenor- Rtn. A.P.S. Dhiman , President, Rotary Club, Chandigarh-Rtn. Vinod Kapoor, President Rotary Club of Chandigarh Shivalik-Rtn. Govind Miglani, President Rotary Club of Chandigarh Central- Rtn. Bhupinder Singh Kapoor, President Rotary Club of Chandigarh Uptown-Rtn. Ajay Gupta and other eminent Rotarians graced this momentous occasion. Thirteen schools from the tricity participated in this event.

The event began with a warm welcome address by Mrs Reema Dewan, Principal DPS Chandigarh, who urged the children to help make the world a better place to live in. The theme of the event was Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which emphasizes the idea of the world being one family. A mesmerizing performance by the school choir enlivened the atmosphere. The event saw a series of impressive dance presentations and Nukkad Natak performances by various city schools. The performances highlighted the importance of peace, harmony, and unity among different cultures and communities. The Nukkad Nataks effectively conveyed strong social messages and successfully achieved their intended impact.

The Chief Guest Rotarian V.P. Kalta, Distt. Governor in his address to the interactors said that it is commendable to see the youth imbibe the value of service before self and grow into adults of substance.He praised the students for their remarkable performances and encouraged them put in their heart and soul for the cause .The Asst. Governor (Zone 4), Rtn. APS Dhiman, delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of all the schools, students, and the organizing committee for making the event a huge success.

The Zonal Interact Utsav provided a platform to the students to showcase their talents, creativity, and teamwork, and to imbibe the values of service, leadership, and fellowship, which are the core values of Rotary. The event was indeed a great success and left the audience spellbound with the exceptional performances.
