Anti-Drug Drive Campaign Live Stream

An Anti-Drug Drive Campaign was organized in Chandigarh on 3 May 2025, to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a drug-free society. The campaign witnessed the participation of local authorities, social workers, health experts, and students from various schools and colleges.
To ensure wider reach and involvement, the event was live streamed in classrooms of class VIII, allowing students to be a part of this meaningful initiative from within their schools. By watching the campaign live, students were able to witness powerful speeches, real-life testimonies, and informative presentations, helping them understand the grave consequences of drug addiction.
The initiative aimed to educate young minds and encourage them to become responsible citizens who stand against drug abuse. The live streaming created a strong impact, as students not only felt connected to the cause but also motivated to spread the message further among their peers and community.

‘Act It Out’ – Dramatic Flair – Exploring English Through Role Play

The students of Grade V enthusiastically participated in a Role Play Activity titled ‘Act It Out’, held on May 3, 2025, in the school premises.
Working in small groups, the children explored the world of drama through enactment and creative mask-making. Each group prepared dialogues and crafted expressive masks to bring their characters to life.
The event provided a platform for students to express their creativity, enhance teamwork, and build confidence in speaking and performance. It was a joyful and enriching experience that blended learning with fun, leaving both participants and viewers with wonderful memories.

Class VIII organised “Comic Strip Making Activity”

On April 30, 2025, Class 8 students at Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, participated in a comic strip making activity as part of the “VADA – Victory Against Drug Abuse” campaign. The activity encouraged students to creatively convey the importance of a drug-free lifestyle, promoting awareness and responsible choices.

Class VI organised Awareness on drug abuse through puppetry

The students of Class 6 showcased their creativity to spread awareness about drug abuse through an engaging puppet storytelling session. Using colourful puppets, they narrated a compelling story highlighting the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making informed choices. The performance effectively conveyed the message that staying away from drugs is crucial for a healthy and happy life. Through this innovative approach, the students demonstrated their understanding of the issue and made an impact in an entertaining way.

Class VII organised Poetry Writing Activity

Delhi Public School organized a Poetry Writing activity for Class 7 students on April 30, 2025, as part of the state-level campaign “VADA” (Victory Against Drug Abuse). The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, promote a healthy lifestyle, and empower students to make informed choices. Through creative expression, students were encouraged to adopt positive values and be vigilant against substance abuse promoting a healthy, drug-free life among themselves.

Students of Classes 11 and 12 from Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, enthusiastically participated in a Cyclothon and Walkathon aimed at raising awareness about eradicating drug abuse and safeguarding the youth. The initiative not only fostered creativity among the participants but also delivered a powerful message about the value of a drug-free life. This impactful activity successfully engaged students while promoting awareness within the wider community.

Suhani Sharma gets into Harvard, Yale, Duke, and more with full-ride scholarships

We are proud to announce that our Head Girl, Suhani Sharma, will be joining Harvard University, USA this fall with a full-ride scholarship – a remarkable achievement that reflects her academic merit and all-round excellence.

In addition to Harvard, Suhani has received admission offers with comparable scholarships from several world-renowned institutions, including Yale University and Duke University. At Johns Hopkins University, she has been awarded the Westgate Scholarship, a highly competitive full-ride merit scholarship granted to only two students from an incoming class of approximately 1,400, according to the university’s official website. At Rice University, she was named both a Trustee Scholar and Century Scholar, receiving a scholarship of $96,000 per annum, covering her full cost of attendance. She was also selected as an “Impacts Scholar” by the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, which comes with a full-ride merit scholarship. She also got into Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), a top-ranked engineering institution in the United States.

Suhani intends to major in Mechanical Engineering while also engaging with the broader liberal arts curriculum during her undergraduate studies. Notably, she achieved all of these offers without the aid of any professional counselling services, relying entirely on her own initiative and preparation. She is currently preparing to present her Engineering Mechanics project at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), scheduled to be held in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Suhani also plans to conduct a mentorship and guidance session at school this month to share her experience with students to support and encourage them in their academic journeys.

DPS hosted ‘The Food Culture Playdate’

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh recently hosted ‘The Food Culture Playdate’ project, a two-day workshop organized by the French Institute in India in collaboration with Alliance Française de Jaipur and The Kindness Meal. The event, designed for Class VII students, aimed to introduce them to India’s rich culinary heritage, the health benefits of traditional foods, and promote cultural exchange.

On Day 1, “Playdate with Food,” students explored traditional Indian recipes and created their own recipe books. Day 2 featured interactive sessions where students learned to prepare regional specialties like Siddu, Sarson da saag, and Dal baati churma. They also shared family recipes and food stories, fostering cultural understanding and appreciation for India’s diversity.

The workshop was an engaging blend of learning, cultural appreciation, and hands-on fun, leaving students with a deeper understanding of India’s traditional culinary treasures.

Empowering Sessions for Class VI

On April 30, 2025, the school organized two empowering sessions for Class VI students. Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur led an informative session on menstrual hygiene management for girls, focusing on personal hygiene, myth-busting, and confidence-building. Simultaneously, Ms. Taran Singla conducted a session on diet and puberty for boys, covering nutritional needs, healthy habits, and navigating physical and emotional changes during adolescence. Both sessions aimed to equip students with knowledge and skills for a healthy and confident transition into adolescence.

Class Nursery organised ‘SHOW AND TELL ACTIVITY’

With the aim of providing an opportunity to our children to develop effective communication skills and to build their confidence, a ‘Show and Tell Activity’ was organized for the students of Class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The children showcased their oratorical skills during the activity, which proved to be an interesting and thrilling experience. The activity helped improve vocabulary, self-expression and public speaking skills in a fun and engaging way. The theme of the activity was ‘My Favourite Toy’. The children carried different props for enhancement of the presentation. It was heartwarming to see the little ones express their thoughts clearly and confidently.

First Skill Saturday of Classes XI & XII

On 26th April 2025, Skill Saturday brought students together for a day of sports and creativity. The morning featured friendly basketball, football, and volleyball matches between Classes 11 and 12, where students showcased teamwork and sportsmanship.
At 9:30 AM, students of Class 11 got engaged in card-making and gift preparation activities. Each student brought art materials from home and designed heartfelt cards, pouring in their creativity and emotions. Along with the cards, many students contributed small tokens like chocolates and books, preparing thoughtful gifts for the special outreach visit.
After a short break from, students gathered for the most awaited part of the day — the visit to the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre at SAS Nagar. The visit from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM was a truly humbling experience. Students interacted with the brave soldiers who had made incredible sacrifices for the nation. The heartfelt cards, gifts, and warm conversations brought smiles to the faces of these real-life heroes and left an indelible impact on every student present.
From 10:00 AM onwards, auditions for the Play, part of the Class Show, took place. Class 12 teacher along with the music and dance teachers organised the auditions, offering students a chance to showcase their talents in voice modulation and character role selection for the production.
Skill Saturday was a successful day, promoting creativity, teamwork, and performance skills among students.

Skill Saturday 1.0: “Mom’s Delight in the Making!”

On April 26, 2025, Primary students joyfully celebrated Skill Saturday 1.0 with the theme “Mom’s Delight in the Making!”—a tribute to mothers through handmade surprises. The day began with energizing Zumba and a fun session on table manners, followed by a quiz to reinforce learning. Culinary excitement followed: Class III made no-cook sandwiches, Class IV crafted fireless Monaco snacks for Poshan Maah, and Class V created millet rolls promoting healthy eating and traditional grains. Creative DIYs added charm—newspaper bags by Class III, clothes folding by Class IV, and heartfelt family frames by Class V. The celebration beautifully blended gratitude, skills, wellness, and love, helping children express affection meaningfully. It was a joyful day of learning that will stay in their hearts.

Pre- Primary Wing organised ‘Teaching Methodology Session’

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh conducted a ‘Teaching Methodology Session’ for the parents of Classes Nursery, Prep l and Prep ll on April 26, 2025. The programme was organized to give an insight to the parents about the curriculum and teaching methodology followed in the classes. Parents were encouraged to mirror similar methods at home. The emphasis was on consistency between school and home environment to reinforce learning effectively. The session concluded on a healthy note and also strengthened the parent-teacher relationship to another level.
