The principal, Mrs Reema Dewan with a delegation of two teachers and nineteen students visited Germany as part of the second phase of the on going exchange programme between Delhi Public School , Chandigarh and Georg Christoph-Lichtenberg Comprehensive School, Gottingen, Germany which supports co-operation between Indian and German Schools, in collaboration with Goethe Institute, Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi and Robert Bosch Stiftung Foundation, Germany.
Jaskeerat was selected to represent Chandigarh in Nationals
Jaskeerat stood Second in U-13 Category and was selected to represent Chandigarh in Nationals at Pondicherry on 1st and 2nd June,2013. He also stood Third in U-19 Category to represent Chandigarh at Lucknow held on 16th June 2013 by Chandigarh Association in St. Xavier’s School , Chandigarh.
Dhruv Kodan Sharma was selected to represent Chandigarh in the sub-junior National Football Championship for Coca Cola Cup 2013
Dhruv Kodan Sharma of Class IX B was selected to represent Chandigarh in the sub-junior National Football Championship for Coca Cola Cup 2013 which was held at Mumbai from 1st May,2013 onwards.
Talk Show On Viral Hepatitis by Dr. Ajay Duseja
Delhi Public School organized a talk show on Viral Hepatitis in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh, 28th July, 2013 being declared as World Hepatitis Day by the WHO. On the occasion, Dr. Ajay Duseja, Associate Professor, Department of Hepatology, PGIMER talked to the students creating awareness about viral hepatitis. He talked about the causes, symptoms & cure of the disease. He also stressed on taking precautions to prevent the disease.

Tenth Anniversary Celebrations kickstarted at DPS Chandigarh
DPS Chandigarh has come a long way in just a decade. Beginning 3rd May, 2013, DPS kickstarted the celebrations with the Annual Prize Distribution ceremonies to commemorate the school’s tenth Anniversary.
The excellence achieved by the gifted, determined and committed students from Classes III to VII was celebrated and given due recognition in the first series of celebrations held in the school auditorium from 3rd to 16th May, 2013.
Sh. B.S. Sudan, IAS, Secretary, Home Punjab Government, Mr. J.P. Garg, Principal (Retd.), Govt. College, Mohali, Mr. Ramesh Vinayak, Resident Editor, The Hindustan Times and other distinguished guests graced the occasions. Parents of young scholars were invited to witness their wards receive honours. Each event commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The cultural extravaganza that followed comprised a gamut of captivating dances, drama, melodious songs, soulful recitations and much more. It was remarkable to see more than 1500 students participate in the celebrations. The zeal and enthusiasm of the students left the audience spell bound.
The young scholars, budding sportsmen and artists were honoured with proficiency awards, scholar badges and honours badges.
Eye Camp
Delhi Public School Chandigarh organized a screening camp for refractory errors and other eye ailments for children of Classes I and II on 6th May 2013 in the school premises. Dr Suresh Gupta, Consultant from Department of Ophthalmology, Government College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh led a team of doctors and optometrists. Children were told about the importance of balanced diet and eye care. He emphasized on screening of children between
5-8 years of age for early detection of problems to avoid vision loss due to “Amblyopia or lazy eye”. Principal Mrs. Reema Dewan told the children that healthy eyes are essential for a good quality of life.
Mother’s Day Celebrated
The students of classes Nursery -Class III celebrated mother’s day. To celebrate this occasion all the mother’s were invited for a fun filled day. Songs, games and a short skit ‘Why mom’s are special’ were there to cherish the everlasting love between a child and a mother.
Beach Party celebrated
The primary wing geared up for a rocking beach party with funky Hawain attire like hats, sunglasses and their colourful clothes and had loads of fun and enjoyment in order to beat scorching heat of our Indian summers.
Dental Camp
As parenting and teaching always go hand in hand, Dr. Shefali Singla, a dentist parent interacted with the tiny-tots of Classes Nursery and Prep of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh to generate awareness about dental hygiene and care. They were given a presentation about correct brushing technique and how to take care of their teeth. The children promised to follow the instructions given.
The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan said that this is the right age to inculcate good oral hygiene since it ensures overall well-being of the body.
Class Show and Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of Class V
Class Show and Annual Prize Distribution of class V was held on 7 May. Mr B.S. Sudan was the chief guest and he gave away the scholar badges and certificates to the meritorious students. He was full of praises and kudos for the children.
DPS Chandigarh bags International School Award 2013-16
Delhi Public School, Chandigarh received the prestigious International School Award for year 2013-16. DPS Chandigarh is the first school in the tricity to have ever received such rare and great honour. The International School Award instituted by the British Council is an accreditation scheme for international curriculum work open to all nursery, primary and secondary schools in more than 20 countries across the world. The scheme recognizes the integration of an international dimension in school curriculum. Successful schools are accredited for a period of three years i.e. 2013-2016. The accreditation process has an action planning stage, followed by the compilation of a dossier of evidence.
To achieve this accreditation, the school involved all students from Nursery to Class XII in various projects which have a global dimension. The school having several fruitful ongoing exchange programmes with partner schools overseas further strengthened its position for accreditation.
The Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan congratulated the staff and students on their well-deserved success in being accredited with the British Council International School Award.
