Class IX & X organised ‘Skill Saturday’

Skill Saturday, held on August 3rd, 2024, was an engaging and informative experience for classes IX and X. The event kicked off with a thought-provoking Carbon Footprint Activity, where students visualized the impact of climate change on planet Earth. A session on Combinatorics, led by a resource person from HT, took students on a fascinating journey into permutation and combination, emphasizing the importance of patience and data handling. A fun-filled riddle-solving session followed, testing students’ problem-solving skills. The day concluded with a creative Rakhi card making competition, where students crafted cards for our brave hearts on the borders. Overall, Skill Saturday was an enriching experience, offering valuable takeaways and memorable moments.

Class Nursery organised ‘Orange Colour Day’

Having colour themed days is a great way to introduce and reinforce colours to children. Keeping this in mind, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organised ‘Orange Colour Day’ for the students of class Nursery. Items were displayed by them and they spoke confidently which was quite captivating. Children explored their creativity and imagination through knuckle printing of an orange colour pumpkin. Orange tang making activity was a great learning experience for them. Teacher and the children both in harmonious shades of orange enjoyed creating the hues and tints of this colour by blending red and yellow. The purpose of the activity was fulfilled with each and every child emitting enthusiasm, vigour and zest.

Class I & II organised ‘Skill Saturday’

Learning a new skill at an early age helps children integrate it into their lives more naturally. With this in mind, ‘Skill Saturday’ was organized for classes I and II on August 3, 2024, to break the monotony of the usual routine. The day began with yoga, wherein the kids learned various asanas and meditated for a while, also learning about the importance of regular yoga practice. As the day progressed, they engaged in activities such as puffy painting and various games that improved their hand-eye coordination and balance. The day concluded on a high note with a fun and energetic dance session to a popular bollywood song, where the kids learned new dance steps. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to step out of their comfort zones and try something new.

Top positions in ‘Kaleidoscope’- A three day inter school competition of diverse talents.

Our students made us proud once again by winning top positions in ‘Kaleidoscope’- A three day inter school competition of diverse talents from 1st to 3rd August 2024 organised by St. Anne’s School, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh.
Ayaan Bhatia (IX-G) won 1st Prize in on the spot Game Designing Competition in Scratch.
Krishiv Sachdeva (IX-D) won 2nd Prize in on the spot Web Designing Competition.
Our School won Runners-up Trophy as well.

DPS Enthusiastically Marks the Reading Month

Delhi Public School Chandigarh observed the Reading Month with great zeal and passion to develop and promote the reading habits among its students. Numerous scholastic activities were organized throughout the month to engage young readers in commemoration of the Late Shri P.N. Panicker, the Father of the Library Movement.
The month long activities started with the Reading Day pledge where the DPSites promised to be active participants in the scheduled Reading activities for becoming avid readers. The students of class 4 and 5 showcased their skills of poem recitation on the ‘Importance of Reading and their favourite Books’.
Classes 6 to 8 presented their creativity and innate talent of making Book Jackets and Book Covers of their favourite genres of literature. The school library department planned and organised the fun-filled activities for accomplishing the desired objective.
Principal Mrs Reema Diwan appreciated the enthusiasm of the students for their active participation in the Reading month . She shared that such reading missions are imperative for developing mental horizon and comprehensive growth of the children. She also appreciated the Library department for their efforts in organising thoughtful reading activities.

Spell Bee Contest for Class IV

The final round of the Spell Bee Contest for Class IV took place on July 31, 2024, at the Delhi Public School Chandigarh auditorium. The event, designed to boost students’ vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension skills, also fostered a healthy competitive spirit among the participants.

The fourteen talented finalists competed in five rounds, including audience questions. The competition concluded with a nail-biting tie-breaker.

The winners were:

• First Place: Vansh Mahajan, Kashika Garg (ClassIV B)
• Second Place: Chitnoor Singh Bhatia and Riansh Chaudhary (Class IVE)
• Third Place: Barakah Binti Inayat and Kainaaz Kaur Manshahia (Class IVD)

The event wrapped up with the distribution of certificates and prizes to all the winners and participants, marking the end of a successful and engaging competition.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Friendship Day’

The students of the Pre- Primary wing of, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated ‘Friendship Day’ with full enthusiasm. The students were made aware of the value and beauty of friendship through a story telling session. The story emphasized the meaning and value of true friends and the importance of friendship. The children were jubilant as they greeted each other. They also enjoyed making a friendship day cards and trinkets and were excited to give it to their friends. The students enjoyed the day to the fullest.

Pre- Primary Wing organised ‘Pyjama Party’

The Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh was transformed into a cozy haven for the ‘Pyjama Party’. Children were dressed in their colourful pyjamas and carried their favourite soft toys. They had a blast playing games and swaying to their favourite dance numbers. It was a delight to see them engrossed in a story telling session by the teachers. It was a great way to foster a sense of bonding and fun among the little ones.

Class V organised ‘Annual Spell Bee Competition’

The final round of Annual Spell Bee Competition, held on July 30, 2024, at the school auditorium of Delhi Public School Chandigarh, was a resounding success. The students of grade V went through various rounds and the final round saw participation from 14 talented finalists from all the sections of Grade V. The event aimed to enhance students’ vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension skills while promoting a healthy competitive spirit.
There were seven rounds of quiz and the winners were decided in an exciting tie breaker round. There were many questions for the audience too. The winners of the Event were:
The First place- Aryaman Bambha and Srijan Bansal of Class VB.
The Second place- Aarav Singh and Simer Juneja of VG
The Third Place- Gaivin Yadav and Jayaansh Wadhwa of VD
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to the winners and participants.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘World Nature Conservation Day’

Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated ‘World Nature Conservation Day’ to raise awareness about the importance of preserving nature. A ‘Best out of Waste Activity’ was organised for the students of the Pre-Primary wing to highlight the principles of ‘Reuse and Recycle.’ The objective was to stimulate the imaginative skills of our young Dipsites in creating innovative and useful products from waste materials. The students’ creativity was truly inspiring. They were also educated about the critical role of conserving nature, the source of all valuable natural resource

Class II organised ‘Poster Making Activity’

To acquaint the students about the importance and benefits of plants, a ‘Poster Making Activity’ on ‘Save Plants’ was conducted for the students of class II of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The activity helped to trigger the thought process of students and explored their creative aspect. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity and portrayed beautiful thoughts and motivational quotes depicting the importance of saving plants for present as well as future generations.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year in India to commemorate the success of operation Vijay in Kargil and to honour the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian soldiers. The students of the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, were made aware about the significance of the historic victory of Kargil war and also instilled a sense of patriotism and gratitude towards our armed forces. The students were shown a presentation and modules to understand the role and importance of the armed forces for the national security of India. Activities like slogan writing and worksheets related to the topic were also done. Celebration of this day aimed to inculcate the values of courage, patriotism and national unity among the young Dipsites.
