Class V Activity-‘Best Out of Waste’

 

To teach the children the importance of conserving the resources and to make the best use of waste things in life, ‘Best Out of Waste’ competition was organized for the children of class V on Earth Day. Children created decorative and useful things out of old newspapers. Innovative ideas used by students were amazing. They created photo frames, baskets, jewellery boxes, seats and slippers,etc.

World Book Day Fest

April 23 marks the anniversary of the birth or death of a range of internationally renowned writers.

Our school’s Libraray Department has designed activities for different classes in their library periods to encourage students to read books and appreciate literature. Activities like ‘reading a book of own’s choice’, ‘Book Mark Making’, ‘Book Jacket Making’ were conducted on the first day of this week long festival.

Class V Show-‘Vasundhara’

Students of Class V staged ‘Vasundhara’ showcasing the importance of flora and fauna through a myriad of scintillating dances and songs. The entire show was an attempt to create the awareness about environmental issues.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Green Week’

The Pre Primary Wing celebrated ‘Green Week’ from 20th April to 24th April where children indulged in different eco-friendly activities. They enjoyed making green drink and sandwiches. Poems and slogans were also recited by the students.

Class III celebrates Earth Day

The students and the parents of DPS Chd. spread awareness about the need to keep Earth clean and green by participating enthusiastically in the ‘Collage Making Competition pledged to make the Earth a better and a happy place to live in!

Class VIII-‘Badge Designing Activity’

 

To celebrate ‘Earth Day’, the students of calss VIII took part in ‘Badge Designing Activity’.

Each child made a badge and inscribed his/her pledge on it. These will be worn by the students for the entire week showing their commitment to the cause of-‘Save the Earth- We only have One’.

 

Class VII Quiz held on 17th April, 2015

A written quiz was organized for students of class 7 on 17th April’15 to commemorate ‘Earth Day’.  The students participated enthusiastically and attempted the questionnaire whole heartedly. Two students from each house (section wise) qualified  for the next round of oral quiz.

Award by SOF

Chahat kalsi of DPS Chandigarh has been awarded the esteemed title of ASSETNATIONAL SCHOLAR

Chahat Kalsi of DPS Chandigarh has been awarded the esteemed title of ASSETNATIONAL SCHOLAR for her amazing performance in the Duke TIP ASSET Talent Search. 8000 7th and 8th graders participated in this Talent Search in 2014-15 from India and UAE. Chahat is among the 347 toppers who have been awarded with this title.

Baisakhi Activity

Tiny tots of Nursery and Prep and Class I thoroughly enjoyed the Baisakhi activity. Children of class Nursery made a wheat pod using wheat grains. Children of Class Prep decorated the picture of a Dhol by doing tearing and pasting in it. Students of Class I celebrated harvest festival by pasting wheat grain on a card. The teacher further told them about the importance of Baisakhi, the festival of harvesting.

Workshop on ‘Use Of Google Tools’

Ms Achint conducted a workshop on ‘Use of Google Tools’ highlighting the importance of the use internet in the classroom. It was an introductory session. The workshop was well placed and well-timed. She spoke about the need to collaborate and connect with other educators to enhance the Teaching-learning experience. It will help to guide students to harness the power of technology.

Workshop on Innovative Measures in Classroom Teaching

Ms. Nina Pandey conducted a workshop on ‘Innovative Measures in Classroom Teaching’. She introduced the concept of using videos in the class which is being widely used all over the world, to make teaching-learning beneficial and promote collaboration skills and peer interaction. It  is a form of blended learning which proves beneficial as personalized guidance is given in the classroom. Ms. Nina showed two interesting videos- The Water Cycle and Glycolysis. It was very informative session. The presentation was well- organized, well-placed with apt use of visual aids.

Workshop on ‘School Evacuation Plan’

In continuity with a series of workshops, a brief workshop was conducted by Ms Sapna Nagpal and Ms Supriti Bhadra for the teachers of DPS Chandigarh to sensitize the teachers about the importance of evacuation and the routes to be followed in case of emergency. A complete layout of the school was discussed. Numbers and names were assigned to all the staircases and exits.

Safety of the students is foremost which was taken care of.
