The students of class III came up with various innovative and creative ways of recycling the waste products. They made beautiful and useful things while participating in the ‘Best Out Of Waste Competition’ held in their classes on 11th May 2015.
Class VIII Show- ‘Shakti – the empowered women’
Students of Class VIII of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented ‘Shakti – the empowered women’ presenting their class show and Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. Mrs. Sukhvinder Khanna, IRS, Director of Income Tax (I & CI) graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
The students extended their reverence to womanhood through various cultural presentations. The thunderous applause by the parents proved testimony to the laudable effort of 300 participants. The meritorious students were felicitated for their academic performances.
Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan congratulated all those who made the program a grand success. She stressed on reaching out to each student and providing them with a platform to make them confident, aware and committed. She advised the parents to take a step towards gender sensitisation starting with their homes and social circles. She also asked the boys to take a pledge to honour the dignity of every woman in their lives. She urged the girls to walk along with boys upholding and maintaining their pride for this is the need of the hour.
Inter-House Quiz Competition
Delhi Public School organized an Inter-House Quiz Competition in the School Auditorium to make the students aware about water conservation.
The auditorium reverberated with the cheering and clapping of excited students who had to witness the quiz on ‘Water’.
There were six teams each comprising of five students. All the teams posed a tough competition, the winner was Satluj House.
Class IX Activity-Slogan Writing
On 24th April, the students of class IX participated in Slogan Writing Competition on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’. The students could be seen deeply engrossed in the activity, enthusiastically expressing their views in slogans, conveying the theme using art and colour medium.
Arnav Aggarwal bagged the Runners-up trophy in U-12 Boys category in ‘2nd Fire an Ace’ Tennis Tournament.

Saachi Bagri of Class- VIE bagged Bronze Medal in Road Race and Rink Race in Open Speed Skating Carnival held at Dikshant International School on 11th and 12th April 2015.
Jaskeerat Singh to represent Chandigarh in Chess Nationals.
Jaskeerat Singh of Class- IX won U-17 Chess Championship 2015-16 held at St Xavier’s Sr. Sec. School on 18th and 19th April 2015. He will represent Chandigarh in Nationals to be held in Karnataka on 2nd October 2015.

Get Groomed Week celebrated by Pre-Primary Wing
DPS aims at holistic development of each child. Keeping in mind the need to inculcate good manners, a ‘Get Groomed Week’ was organised. During the week children of the Pre-Primary wing participated in various activities to reinforce table manners, telephone manners and use of magic words.
Class 4 Activity – Book Mark Making Competition
The school organized a ‘BookMark Making Competition’ to sensitize students about the environment on Earth Day i.e. 22nd April,2015. Children came up with amazing ideas and it turned out to be a great success. This was an attempt to create awareness towards the environment.
‘INTERNATIONAL GIRLS IN ICT WEEK’ AT DPS CHANDIGARH
Delhi Public School Chandigarh celebrated ‘International Girls in ICT Week’ in the school premises from 20th to 24th April 2015.
The school was witness to a host of interesting and fun-filled activities throughout the week. Audio-Visuals highlighting the role of women in the ICT scenario were showcased to the students of Class VII. Girl students were made aware of various career opportunities that await them in the IT world.
The morning assembly had interesting news about the Girls in ICT initiative spoken by the students. The poster-making and bookmark-making competition held in classes also saw many creative ideas taking shape.
The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, applauded the efforts of the Computer Department and emphasized the need for holding more such events to motivate students to choose IT as a career.
‘Ohana’
Students of Class IV of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented ‘Ohana’, as part of their class show and prize distribution ceremony, on 27th April, 2015. It showcased the importance and the contribution of each family member towards building closer family bonds. Nearly 250 students of Class IV left the audience spellbound with their performance. Mr. R.J. Khanderao, Regional Officer, CBSE graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan extended her gratitude to all those who contributed in making this programme a success. She said that the ideology of the school is to reach out to each child and ensure that each child is confident as well as aware and committed. She further said that these functions highlight the personal development of each child. She advised the parent to value family time and cherish the moments they spent with their kids.
