Pre Primary Wing had a Pyjama Party

The Pre Primary Wing had a Pyjama Party for children. It was indeed delightful to see them coming to school in their pyjamas, slippers and with a stuffed toy to cuddle. Children had fun in a putend daytime sleepover with their classmates. They enjoyed listening to bedtime stories and watched a movie. The giggles, excitement and laughter surely set the tone for a day full of fun and frolic.

Class Nursery & I celebrated Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is the time when children express their gratitude and appreciation for their mothers. The students of Class Nursery and Class I celebrated this day by inviting their moms to their classrooms. They mesmerized their mothers with a melodious song and a parody. The enthusiastically participated in ‘ Photo Frame Making’ (nursery) and ‘Tattoo Making’(Class I) activities with their mothers. Children played games, presented gifts to their moms and did their best to show how much they love their mothers and what she means to them.

TEDxYouth@DPS Chandigarh

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, DPS Chandigarh hosted their first TEDXYouth@Chandigarh on Saturday, 13th May, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is a proud privilege for dipsites as DPS Chandigarh is one among the few who got the license to organize such a mega event.

Among the line of 12 prominent speakers were Mr. Parmish Verma – Punjabi Musician and Actor, Prof. Dr. Raj Singh –Vice Chancellor (Rayat and Bahara) and Mr. Kritarth Srinivasan – a renowned standup comedian. The other eminent speakers were  Amit Hans, Arvind Tuli, Jigyasa Labroo, Raul Rodriguez, Saksham Verma, Sudhanshu Kaushik, Sunil K. Verma, Vikash Das, Vinita Zutshi.

 Short, powerful talks were delivered by leading, thinkers and doers. The event was an endeavor to bring students, educators and leaders from in and around the country to hear from twelve dynamic speakers of diverse backgrounds and subject areas. Each presented his/her ideas sharing their expertise and experience. The entire event was engaging and a thought provoking experience, each talk sparked deep discussion and connection.

The Principal Ms. Reema Dewan was happy that an event of International repute was organized in DPS Chandigarh which gave the global exposure to the students. These events not only widen the horizon but also give a new aspect to thinking. She also thank the gathering for being a part of this mega event.

 

‘Tastebuds: No Flame-No Blade’ Cooking Competition organized at DPS Chandigarh

To promote love for cooking as well as to increase the awareness about healthy food, ‘Tastebuds: No Flame-No Blade’ cooking competition was organized at Delhi Public School, Chandigarh on May 12, 2017. Students of classes VII and VIII prepared healthy and scrumptious dishes and snacks such as tortilla wraps, fresh salads, etc along with refreshing drinks like aloe-vera and cucumber mojito. The young masterchefs served their dishes aesthetically and were adjudged on presentation, nutritional value and creativity.

The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, applauded the efforts of the amateur cooks and motivated them to take up more such hobbies.

 

Family Day Celebrated at DPS Chandigarh

Taking every opportunity to thank Mom and Dad, the children of Classes Prep & II celebrated Family Day with tremendous zeal. The family members of the students were invited for a show put up by the little ones. Children sang a melodious song and spoke about their love and affection for their parents. The celebration concluded with the students and parents spending time together in various fun filled activities such as collage making, family wind chime organised in the class.

Class III Show-‘Circus’

Students of class III of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh put up a Class Show -‘CIRCUS’ on 5th May, 2017.

 

The stage came alive with the young and dazzling stars spilling myriad colours on to the stage.

 

The dance performances left the audience asking for more. The acrobat dance was an absolute delight to watch. Through the play the children conveyed the message that circus was a dying art with fewer and fewer people showing interest in it. They spoke about the deplorable condition of circus animals and took a pledge against animal cruelty.

 

The children won a thunderous applause from the audience for their lively performance.

 

The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, applauded the effort and hard work put in by the students. She congratulated the parent community and appreciated their unstinted support.

 

Teachers Skill Development Workshop

25 teachers of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh participated in a Teachers’ Skill Development Workshop on 21 April 2017 conducted by EduCorp Trainings. They had an interactive workshop in which they participated in various activities that emphasized the need for stress management and positive attitude and also suggested suitable measures to achieve ideal goal of a happy work environment. The teachers thoroughly enjoyed sessions that involved bursting balloons, convincing colleagues and catching balls. The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, emphasized on the need for such workshops and appreciated the teachers and organizers.

Shriditi and Jugaad (Class X) have won the third prize and consolation prize respectively in the Pictorial Slogan Writing Competition.

Honorable Justice Surya Kant, Judge Punjab & Haryana High Court was the Chief Guest.

Class I Activity- ‘Cooking without Fire’

To develop the skill of non- flame dishes, a weekly activity ‘Cooking without fire’ was organized in Class I. The aim of the activity was to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent and explore new areas of interest. It was conducted with a view to create awareness about the nutritional value of food cooked without fire. The students prepared healthy dishes like ‘Sprouted Bhel, Orange Tang and Cheesy Biscuit Canoapy’ using easy and quick recipes. They served the dishes in an artistic and aesthetic way.

Pre-Primary Wing–’Get Groomed Week’

Keeping in mind the overall development of the children, the Pre- Primary Wing planned a ‘Get Groomed Week ‘ for children, during which they learnt table manners, telephone  etiquettes, corridor manners and use of magic words through various fun filled activities and interesting worksheets. Children were taught various skills through modules and role- play.

TEDxDPSChandigarhLive, a live simulcast from the 2017 TED Conference stage was organised today at Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. Starting at 3:30 PM on April 28th, over hundred TED enthusiasts explored this year’s theme “The Future You” with some of the world’s leading thinkers, scientists, artists and writers via a live video feed of the main stage speakers at the TED Conference being held in Vancouver. Speakers in the session included Cynthia Erivo, Tony- and Grammy-winning actor, Shah Rukh Khan, the forefront of the Indian film industry, Laolu Senbanjo, a visual artist, musician, human rights lawyer and activist and Ashton Applewhite, the author of the mega bestseller series, Truly Tasteless Jokes.

Class VI Show-‘Parivartan’

Students of Class VI of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented their class show ‘Parivartan’ on the occasion of the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. Showcasing the theme that change is the only constant, the programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Honourable Chief Guest, Mr Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director Higher Education. This was followed  by the song ‘Parivartan’ which advocated that nature teaches us to accept  change with open arms. Adorable caterpillars and vibrant butterflies in their lighted up dresses in the ‘Butterfly dance’ left the audience spellbound. The students highlighted the negative effects man has brought about on the earth in the form of a street play and showed how empowered today’s woman is through an impressive performance. The students brought to life telephones, mobiles and robots on stage with their enchanting performance and took the audience on a journey of ‘Patriotism over the years’. The audience was left speechless as the show came to an end with the grand finale reinforcing the message that change is desirable and much needed.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Jitender Yadav gave away the prizes and appreciated the efforts of the students.

The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan congratulated the students and the parents. She said that we are always trying to compete with ourselves and stressed on the need of global and international exposure for students.
