In order to sensitize students about renewable resources of energy and various scientific innovations achieved in this field, Delhi Public School, Sector 40-C, Chandigarh, celebrated Akshay Urja Diwas. Poster Making Competition and Folder Making Competition was organized for Classes VI and VII respectively. Students made colourful and beautiful posters and folders depicting various themes “Embracing Sustenance” and “Gaining from Sustaining”. Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan appreciated the efforts and creativity of the young minds.

 

 

Anjan and Harpratap (Class XII) participated in a competition named ‘Voice Address’ held on 8th August 2017 at Chitkara International School, Chandigarh. Anjan secured 3rd position in the same.

Pre Primary- ‘Rakhi Making Activity’

Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of all human emotions.

To commemorate this festival, a ‘Rakhi Making Activity’ was organized for the students of Pre- Primary Wing. The students made beautiful Rakhis using different articles like silken thread, glitter sheets, ribbon, etc. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity and were excited to take it home.

“Eat Healthy to stay healthy”

Life today is not like it was earlier. A long time ago people ate healthy food that was really safe and good for their wellness.

But now we are living in an age of Macdonald, KFC and Star Bucks where they only serve junk food. Today’s generation mostly getting attracted towards junk.

We all know that junk food is unhealthy and with poor nutritional value. Keeping this in mind the students of Class I had organized a monthly activity on ”Healthy/ Junk Food”. The students sang songs and participated in the quiz also had brain storming sessions on the topic. They prepared beautiful headgears a collage on the topic. They prepared beautiful headgears for the presentation of Slogan speaking. They prepared a collage on the fruits and vegetables of the colours of the rainbow. They all were thrilled throughout the month by doing different fun filled activities.

DPS CHANDIGARH WINS INTER-DPS DANCE FESTIVAL 2017

DPS Chandigarh hosted the Annual Inter DPS Dance Festival on August 5, 2017 in the school auditorium. The dance competition featured eleven dance teams from North Zone-1. The participating teams presented fabulous dances based on the themes ‘Satyamev Jayate’ and ‘Jagriti’.

Mr. Kamal Arora, Chandigarh based theatre person and Chairman, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy, Guru Shoba Koser, an eminent kathak dancer and creative artist par excellence, Mrs. Gandharv Verma, a trained classical vocalist, and Mrs. Divya Goswami Dixit, a renowned Kathak Dancer from Lucknow Gharana were the Guests of Honour for the occasion. The competition was adjudged by an esteemed panel consisting of Guru Brij Mohan Gangani, distinguished Kathak Dancer, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Head of the Dance Department, GCG Sector 42, Chandigarh and Ms. Shuchi Singh, a trained kathak performer as well as certified choreographer from the Natya School of Arts.

The programme started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the honourable guests followed by a solo Sufi rendition and presentation of the poem ‘If’. The participating teams were given a warm welcome by the Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan. She expressed her immense pleasure and pride in hosting the Inter-DPS Dance Competition.

In her address, she said that exposing children to India’s culture and heritage through classical dance and music is a great initiative taken by the DPS Society. She further added that such meets are a celebration and enhance camaraderie and brotherhood that leads to a brighter and better world.

The cultural extravaganza showcased the diversity of Indian classical dance styles, costumes and expression. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the breath-taking and insightful performances. The mesmerizing show definitely left an impact on the audience and all were left gasping for more. The whole event was indeed soul-stirring and stimulating.

DPS Chandigarh was adjudged the winner while DPS Ambala and DPS Sangrur bagged the first and second Runners-up positions respectively.

 

 

Class II Organised Science Exhibition

DPS Chandigarh organised Science Exhibition for students of Class II on the school campus. The exhibition showcased projects and models prepared by the students as part of their project- based learning methodology. The highlights of the exhibition were the models of urban and rural life, mini zoo, beach side etc. The exhibits were creative and attractive. These provided a feast to our eyes. We encourage these exhibitions for we realize that new ideas grow in the minds of these young children and these are the platforms where ideas begin to bloom for the development of the world.

Class Prep July Theme-‘Germination’

The children of class Prep were introduced to the world of flora and fauna by giving them an insight into the life cycle of a baby seed. They participated in various activities conducted according to the theme of the month-‘Germination’. Talk on different types of seeds, stages of germination, things a plant needs to grow followed by sowing and watering of a seed were conducted. The children enjoyed singing a song ‘Farmer Plants a Seed’ and listening to stories on “Seed Germination’. They learnt about different parts of a plant and their function with the use of flash cards and cutouts. Children went out in the school garden for a nature walk and collected leaves, twigs etc. and used them creatively in the ‘Nature Art’ activity.

Our team comprising Chaitanya, Akshat Jagga, Akhilesh Shetty and Aryanpartap Singh of Class XII secured the first position in ‘Hackathon 2017’ conducted by Infosys on 29 & 30 July 2017.

Our team comprising Chaitanya, Akshat Jagga, Akhilesh Shetty and Aryanpartap Singh of Class XII secured the First position in ‘Hackathon 2017’ conducted by Infosys on 29 & 30 July 2017 at their IT park campus, Manimajra. The students prepared a project on ‘Hostel Management’ in which they introduced the concepts of Machine learning and augmented reality. Interestingly, the students opted to be judged in the College level pool instead of the School level pool and outshined 29 other college teams. The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, congratulated the team and expressed great pride on such an outstanding achievement.
