DPS hosted ‘El Entorno – The Environment Fest’

Delhi Public School Chandigarh, hosted the Annual Inter-DPS Environment Festival – El Entorno on October 6th and 7th, 2023 under the aegis of The DPS Society. More than 300 students from 18 Delhi Public Schools across the country competed against each other in multiple, highly challenging online and onsite events. Mrs Shailender Kaur, IFS, Director Horticulture, inaugurated the two day festival. On the second day, Mr Saurabh Gupta, IFS, Additional PCCF (Development), Dept. of Forest and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab and Ms Bhavna Garg, IAS, Deputy Director General, The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Unique Identification Authority of India, were the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively.

The festival is an endeavour to give students a platform to convey a strong message of environment protection and sustainability. The online events included Website Designing, Photography Competition among others to test the consciousness and understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals. In the category of onsite events, DPS Chandigarh witnessed the confluence of creativity and ingenuity in events like DNA of Drama (Street Play), Paseo en Rampa (Ramp Walk), Mise n Scene (Create your own Advertisement), Planetpreneurs (Reshaping Environment through Entrepreneurship) and Expo Naturaleza (Exhibition). These events aimed at promoting and encouraging awareness about the crucial role of humans to respect, protect and preserve the natural world.

The Principal, Mrs Reema Dewan said that DPS Chandigarh is the trailblazer of critical and creative learning and committed to foster the educational motto of DPS Society. Addressing the next generation as the ‘Eco Warriors’, she resonated the theme of G20 Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and working collaboratively towards the fulfilment of SDGs. She said that these festivals help to sensitise students on environment issues. She motivated the students to become the torch bearers for a cleaner and greener earth. She stressed on the urgency to realise how important environment concerns are to secure a healthy and sustainable future.

The event ended with an invigorating valedictory function with DPS Noida bagging the overall trophy.
