Investiture & Prize Distribution Ceremony

It was an iconic moment in Delhi Public School, Chandigarh as the 7th student council was sworn in and a proud moment for the scholars whose prowess in academics, sports and co-curricular activities was duly acknowledged in the presence of their peers and their parents. The honoured guests for this solemn occasion were Ms. Niharika Rai, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chandigarh (East) and Mr. Madhur Verma, S.P. City and Crime Branch, Chandigarh.

The Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan welcomed the guests of honour. She thanked the DPS Parent community and called them the true partners in education. She said that life is like a grind stone whether it grinds you down or polishes you up depends on you. She reminded the student that true leadership lies in action and not in position. Therefore first, one makes the splash and then comes the waves. Reposing her faith in the present generation she asked them to take charge and create waves. She concluded by saying,

“All revolutions start small,
All revolutions start young,
Revolutions are powered by youth power

The ceremony began with a short cultural programme which mesmerised the audience. The show started with the rocking presentation by the school orchestra followed by a graceful dance to the rendition of traditional shalokas. The highlight of the day was a Sufi song which bagged the first prize in recently held “Fanta Fiesta”. The vibrant foot-tapping Haryanavi folk dance added a zing to the ceremony.

The guests of honour Ms. Niharika Rai and Mr. Madhur Verma presented the badges and administered the oath of office to the members of the new Student Council. The young leaders took the mantle of responsibility with commitment. Later the guests of honour congratulated the office bearers and encouraged them to lead the school community by example rather than by precept.

The Investiture Ceremony was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony (Senior Wing). The young scholars, budding sports person and artists were honoured with proficiency awards, scholar badges and honour badges.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks presented by the school Head Girl.
