Campaign On Importance Of Plants
The Environment Society of India along with CCE and UNDP has started a campaign called ‘Ek Ped Ek Zindagi’. The key objective of this campaign is to create awareness and sensitize the student community about importance and usefulness of plants in our lives. The main focus being on conservation of plants. Mr. N.K. Jhingan secretary of ‘ The Environment Society of India,’ visited to school on 5th August 2015 and encouraged the students to grow medicinal plants and actively adopt Ayurveda for health.
Workshop on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Delhi Public School, Chandigarh conducted a workshop on Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation for the children of Class IX and X to equip them with life-saving skills. Dr. Indu Sen and Dr. Suman Arora from the Department of Anaesthesia, PGIMER Chandigarh conducted the interactive session. The two doctors demonstrated to the students how to do CPR on a mannequin. Principal Reema Dewan emphasised on the importance of teaching the children this essential procedure.
Students Attend ‘Derriere la Porte’ Show
Class VII students were taken to the Tagore Theatre on 10th August, 2015 to witness a unique show of juggling, magic, humour and poetry presented by Tour de Cirque, France.On invitation to the city by Alliance Française de Chandigarh, the show was staged in association with Chandigarh Administration.
The show titled ‘Derriere la Porte’ presented the audience an unusual meeting of two characters on a café-terrasse. It represented the metaphor of their wanderings and gave them a breeding ground for playing games, nooks to hide and a thousand spaces to explore.
The students were feeling enriched after witnessing such a one-of-its-kinds show.

Pre Primary Wing celebrated Independence Day
Pre- Primary wing of DPS Chandigarh celebrated Independence Day with great fervor and enthusiasm.
The students of Class Nursery enjoyed colouring the national flag and made a beautiful tricolor takeaway.
The sudents of Class Prep came dressed up as freedom fighters and spoke a few on topic ‘I love my country’.
To imbibe the feeling of patriotismin children of class I, a visual presentation was shown to make them realize the importance of Independence day and we celebrate it.
The students of Class II, participated in a special assembly to mark the occasion. Celebrations began enthralled with the morning prayer. The young dipsites enthralled the audience with vibrant dance performances. The little children took patriotism to new heights with their soulful recetition of ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’.
The students of Class III sang patriotic songs and participated enthusiastically in its slogan writing activity to mark this special day.

DPS CHANDIGARH WINS NRITYANJALI 2015
DPS Chandigarh hosted the Annual Inter-DPS Dance Festival NRITYANJALI 2015 on August 8th 2015 in the school auditorium. The dance competition featured twelve dance teams from North Zone-1. The participating teams presented fabulous dances based on stories from Indian Mythology set to Classical Indian Dance forms.
Mrs. Geetika Kalha, IAS was the Chief Guest for the event. Guru Shobha Koser also graced the occasion. The competition was adjudged by an esteemed panel consisting of Ms. Vani Madhav, Guru Brij Mohan Gangani and Mrs. Charu Handa, all eminent personalities from the field of dance.
The programme started with the traditional lighting of the lamp. The guests and the participating teams were given a warm welcome by the Principal, Mrs Reema Dewan. She expressed her pleasure in hosting the prestigious event annually. In her address, she said that DPS has always believed in holistic growth of its students and for that education as well as understanding of aesthetics is of utmost importance. She further added that Indian Classical Dance and Music is an important part of our culture, which not only enriches and refines the human personality but also soothes the stress in students and brings happiness and peace of mind. It also enhances physical fitness, self-control and self-confidence in them.
The whole event was a cultural extravaganza and showcased the pristine and the highest dance forms at their best. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the breath taking performances. The show was spiritually uplifting and indeed mesmerizing.
DPS Chandigarh was adjudged the winner while DPS Hisar and DPS Azad Nagar, Kanpur bagged the first and second Runners-up positions respectively. The winners and the first runners-up have qualified for the National Level event to be held in Delhi in November, 2015.
The dance festival came to a close with the vote of thanks and the prize distribution ceremony.
First position in the Zonal level of Nrityanjali 2015 – Inter-DPS Dance Festival
Our School Dance Team comprising of Aashna Verma (XII E), Soumya (XII E), Sanjali Sethi (XII E), Richa Verma (XII D) and Mehak Gupta (XII D) bagged the First position in the Zonal Level of Nrityanjali 2015 – Inter-DPS Dance Festival held at DPS Chandigarh on 8th August, 2015. The team will now be participating in the Nationals at DPS Noida in the month of November, 2015.
Buddies Day
Life is a collection of special moments that are spent with friends are cherished forever. To develop a sense of friendship and bonding, the children of Pre-Primary Wing got together to exchange greeting cards and friendship bands. To make the day more special stories related to friendship were narrated and shown on Smartboard.
Investiture Ceremony at DPS Chandigarh
The Investiture Ceremony for the session 2015-16 was held on 31st July, 2015 to administer the oath of office to the new Student Council. The newly appointed members of the Interact Club were also inducted ceremoniously.
Shri R.P. Upadhyay, IGP, U.T. Chandigarh presided over the ceremonial investiture. The event was graced by Guest of Honour, Mr. D.P. Singh, President, Rotary Club of Chandigarh, Intl. District 3080 and other eminent Rotarians.
The ceremony was traditionally initiated with the lighting of the lamp followed by a short cultural programme that included the auspicious Ganesh Vandana, seeking wisdom and divinity and a group song enthusing patriotism. A visual presentation to inspire our young leaders was the highlight of the show. A ‘Nukkad Natak’ was staged highlighting the theme of ‘Leadership’.
The honoured guest administered the Oath of office and gave away the badges to all members of the Student Council. He appreciated the programme and said that Investiture Ceremony is a milestone event of the school. He praised the council for the impeccable march past.
Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan dedicated the Investiture Ceremony to our former President Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. In her address, she reminded the council that Leadership is not just about authority but responsibility, accountability and action. She asked them to learn more and do more not only in terms of quantum but also quality to bring about the desired changes in the society.
