Class II-‘Shoe Lace Tying Activity’

Learning to tie shoe lace is a tricky fine motor skill for children but with patience and practice parents can teach their child to tie laces on their own. It requires a lot of dexterity. Keeping this in mind a ‘Shoe Lace Tying’ activity was organised for children of class II. It was a fun- filled activity where children had a rollicking time trying to outdo their companions. Laughter and merriment resonated in the classes.

Investiture Ceremony at DPS Chandigarh

Student Council members of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh for the current academic session were sworn in on Wednesday, 26th July, 2017, at an impressive Investiture Ceremony, amidst an air of enthusiasm and anticipation. The newly appointed members of the Interact Club were also inducted.

Mr. Alok Kumar, DIG (UT) was the Chief Guest. Past Rotary International President Mr. Rajendra K. Saboo, President Rotary Club, Chandigarh, Mr. P.S. Matharoo and other eminent Rotarians graced the occasion.

The auspicious ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a short cultural programme that included a short instrumental music composition, rendition of poem ‘If’ and a dance performance which was based on King Ashoka’s transformation from a ruthless conquerer to an enlightened ruler giving the message that benevolence and morality are two qualities that make great leaders.

The newly invested members were pinned by Mr. Alok Kumar. He congratulated the new council and urged students to take their responsibilities with utmost sincerity, and put their heart and soul into whatever they take up in life if they want to excel. Rotary President Mr. Matharoo also encouraged the students during his address.

The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan in her address reminded the council that with authority comes great responsibility and accountability. She said that true leadership is in making bridges and there is no place other than school where students can get the best lessons in life skills. She emphasized that today we need leaders who are inspired, groomed and confident to take on challenges. The vote of thanks was proposed by the school Head Girl.

Students from Classes IV-X participated in the event ‘Science Extravaganza’ held at Carmel Convent, Chandigarh on 26th July 2017. The following students won prizes in different events:

  • Shambhavi and Sunaina (Class VIII-A) won 1st prize in ‘Clean India Green India’.
  • Divija Dewan and Navya Gupta (Class V-F) won 1st prize in ‘Serendipity’.

‘Ek Naya Aasmaan’ – Class Show and Prize Distribution Ceremony – Class VIII

Students of Class VIII of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated their class show and Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony for the session 2016-17.Mr Ashok Kumar Meena, Director-cum-Special Secretary Panchayats and Rural Development & Municipal Commissioner, Panchkula graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The entire show, weaved and presented a wishful thinking of students for a journey to find their place under the brighter sky seeking the growth of all and making this world better and happier for all.  Around 300 students participated and presented their desires through a song, qawwali, poetry, dance presentations, and a segment of dramatic expressions. The young achievers were felicitated and applauded for excelling in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.

The chief guest, Mr. Ashok Kumar Meena, in his motivational speech urged the students to build up a career based on their passion and try to give back to the society to the best of their abilities.

The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan in her address reiterated the school philosophy of reaching out to each child and tap his potential to make them confident to face the challenges of the world. She hoped that students would be successful in carving out ‘Ek Naya Aasman’ for themselves and create something worthwhile to make this world a better place.

 

Rain Walk

To enjoy the monsoon showers, the children of Class Nursery and Prep had a gala time as they went for a walk in the rain wearing raincoats and carrying their colourful umbrellas. There was laughter I the air as they splish- splashed in the tiny puddles of water. It was a sight to watch the children enjoying themselves.

Blue Week celebrated by Nursery

Nursery celebrated ‘Blue Week’ from 10th to 14th July, 2017. To reinforce the concept of blue colour children came dressed in blue clothes and brought blue objects. The children enthusiastically participated in many art and craft activities.

They yelled in delight as they went out for a ‘Rain Walk’. The little ones made paper boats and sailed them in a tub of water. They thoroughly  enjoyed the blow painting. It was a fun filled and enriching week for the tiny tots.

Summer Camp at DPS

Summer Camp is an opportunity to hone certain life skills while having fun.It provides a platform for the kids to explore and express their creativity. Keeping this in view the school organised a Summer Camp for the young Dipsites. The camp comprised of myriad of activities like dance,yoga, aerobics, art and craft, personality development, puppet show etc.The students learnt different ways of painting like marble painting, stone painting etc. The camp concluded on June 6,2017 with a small presentation by the children and an exhibition.
