Teachers’ Training Workshop on “Reel Philosophy: Unlocking Teaching Through Film Screening” organised by Chandigarh Citizens Foundation in association with Delhi Public School, Sector 40, Chandigarh
The Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF), in collaboration with Delhi Public School, Sector 40, Chandigarh, organised a Teachers’ Training Workshop titled “Reel Philosophy: Unlocking Teaching Through Film Screening.” The event brought together educators from city schools to explore the use of cinema as a creative pedagogical tool fostering reflection, empathy, and innovative learning.
The session was led by Dr. Ambuj Sharma, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Philosophy, Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh. Dr. Sharma delivered a thought-provoking address on how films can serve as catalysts for philosophical inquiry and real-life understanding.
Ms. Reema Dewan, Director (Academic & Administration), DPS Chandigarh, and Member, Focus Group on Education, CCF in her welcome address emphasized the need for continuous learning and pedagogical innovation to make classrooms more engaging and reflective.
The workshop’s highlight was the film screening and discussion segment, demonstrating how cinematic narratives can inspire critical thinking, compassion, and dialogue among learners.
The session was also graced by Ms. Kavita Chatterjee Das, Convenor, Focus Group on Education, CCF and Professor Anil Monga from Panjab University.
Prof. Nandita Singh from the Department of Education, Panjab University, proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collaborative effort behind this meaningful initiative aimed at integrating philosophy, reflection and creativity in classrooms.
