Orientation Programme for U.T. School Principals and Teachers at DPS Chandigarh

An Orientation Programme for School Principals and Mathematics, Science and Language teachers of UT, Chandigarh was organized by CBSE in collaboration with Education Department, Chandigarh at Delhi Public School, Sector 40-C, Chandigarh. It was attended by 302 participants including Principals and teachers of various schools.

Ms. Reema Dewan, Principal, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh thanked CBSE and the U.T. Administration for giving the school an opportunity to facilitate such an event.

The eminent guests at the Orientation were Ms. Anita Karwal, Chairperson CBSE, Mr. B.L. Sharma, Education Secretary, Chandigarh, Sh. Anurag Tripathi, Secretary CBSE, Sh. Rajnish Kumar, Director School Education and Literacy, MHRD, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director Academics, CBSE, Dr Biswajit Saha, Director Skill Education and Trainings CBSE, Mr. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, DSE, U.T. and Joint Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of CBSE in addition to other key officials of the Department of Education, Chandigarh.

Ms. Anita Karwal, Chairperson, CBSE in her keynote address on Hubs of Learning and Annual Pedagogical Plan emphasised on the role of Principals as Pedagogical Leaders. She also talked about various initiatives taken by CBSE to bring about the much needed changes in the school curriculum and its transaction.

The programme aimed at incorporating new strategies in the educational curriculum. The distinguished speakers laid emphasis on Experiential Learning and hands on experiences in the classroom. They deliberated on pedagogical leadership and CBSE initiatives in equipping the students to take on the world as 21st century ready citizens. They sought cooperation of the Principals for revolutionising the education system.

The short presentation by the core committee of PISA, comprising of three schools of Chandigarh constituted under the Chairmanship of Sh. B.L. Sharma, Education Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh apprised the audience of the ground work being done to gear up for PISA 2021. It was highly appreciated by the officials from CBSE.

The session ended on a positive note with all the participants motivated to bring in the necessary changes in the curriculum to prepare for PISA 2021.
