CBSE Workshop on Skill Awareness

A one day ‘Awareness on Skill Workshop’ organized by Vocational Education Cell, CBSE, Delhi was held in DPS Chandigarh on August 13, 2016.

The Workshop was conducted by Dr. Biswajit Saha, Additional Director, Vocational Education Cell, CBSE and attended by Mr. R.J. Khanderao, Joint Secretary and Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula and Principals/Representatives of 137 Schools.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp followed by Principal, DPS Chandigarh, Mrs. Reema Dewan’s address. She extended a warm welcome to everyone and said that it was extremely important to help build attitudes, aptitude, skill and ability in students and make them employable. She proposed that Chandigarh Schools need to pool their resources to make the vocational education project viable and successful.

Mr. R.J. Khanderao, Joint Secretary and Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula like a true mentor explained the importance of vocational training in education and its urgent need.

The key note speaker Dr. Saha’s main focus was to reengineer our education system and lay special focus on vocational education. He urged Principals to make such courses available in the schools which make students capable and job ready.

There was an enthralling cultural programme comprising Ganesh Vandana and a spell binding performance by the school choir that left the audience mesmerized. The workshop concluded on a fruitful note followed by lunch.
